I know there's been like 3 threads about this game, but I can't find them and now that the game is less than 48 hours away, I am starting to get excited. This game has the potential to be even better than the Colts v Patriots, with just as much on the line and a lot of good storylines. These are far and away the 2 best teams in the NFC, and it is almost assured that they will meet in the NFC Championship, and this game will determine whether its played at Texas Stadium or at frigid Lambeau Field. Tony Romo vs. the "old Tony Romo". Brett Favre 0-8 at Texas Stadium and so forth. I am gonna go ahead and say the Cowboys are gonna take this one, the Packers really haven't played anybody, and I think the Cowboys will prove to be too overpowering and talented on both sides of the ball for GB. I think both teams will put up points, and be able to throw the football but the better team will win, esp. in Dallas. Cowboys 38 Packers 31 The only problem is that it's on NFL Network, and I can't watch from the friendly confines of my own home. Where are you fellow H-town Cowboys fans watching the game??
The NFL sucks. Since when does the NFL really care about the fans? With cable costing what it does, Comcast and Time Warner will win as many popularity contests as ExxonMobil and Chevron. That's nothing new for cable companies. They're used to being portrayed as bad guys, hulking monoliths who can't siphon enough from your monthly budget without craving a few dollars more. They've become another utility for most of us, a necessity along the lines of electricity, telephones and sewer service. But the NFL looks worse right now, and it'll look awful Thursday when the Dallas Cowboys play the Green Bay Packers and roughly 66 percent of the nation won't get the game at home. "Our goal at the NFL Network is simply to bring more football to our fans," commissioner Roger Goodell said on a conference call last week. Presumably, he kept a straight face on the other end of the line. The NFL can blame Comcast and other large cable providers all it wants for not carrying the network on a basic tier. But no one forced the league to give eight games to its own outfit. If Goodell can't force cable providers to change their stance, that's his problem. The NFL is responsible to NFL fans. And fans just want to see the games. They couldn't care less about the business squabble between one billion-dollar industry and another. "This is definitely a commercial dispute between two entities," Goodell said. "I understand what you mean about the success of the two different entities. But we're doing this in the best interest of the fans. . . . We believe we're standing up for our fans here and trying to deliver more football to them." Part of the problem is Goodell's definition of "more football" and his belief that the masses crave it. But 24/7 coverage, 365 days a year, has limited appeal. The NFL acknowledged as much last season, the first in which it aired games on the then 3-year-old network. Not enough folks cared about the network without games. Most still don't care -- except for the games. Essentially, the NFL took those games hostage to use as bargaining chips, but the cable giants refused to sweeten the pot. Yet the NFL blames the cable companies, while urging fans to complain or switch to satellite TV. If the NFL really cared about fans, the "Sunday Ticket" package wouldn't be limited to satellite TV. Millions of Americans who live in apartments, or don't have the proper exposure, can't get satellite TV. I don't see how prohibiting cable from the package is in fans' best interest. Neither do I understand how putting games on the largely-unobtainable NFL Network benefits anyone but the NFL. For once, cable operators don't look so bad. "It's the NFL that decided to take these eight games off of free broadcast television," Comcast executive David Cohen told USA Today, "to try to enrich themselves at the expense of their fans by creating a multibillion dollar asset called the NFL Network." The cable industry still stinks. But the NFL might as well be Big Oil or Big Tobacco in this instance. http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071127/SPORTS0303/711270375/1224/SPORTS08
Get a really big set of rabbit ears and dial in the UHF channel 27, KDFI 27, in Dallas. The sick thing is that local media is acting like you must get the Dish and get NFL network to see it, knowing good and well it's free up here due to sell out rules. There's probably a way to see this online from a friend's house via a slingbox or something right? It's part of the local cable in Dallas...
this game is so huge, there are TWO threads on it. I think the the game vs the Titans is huge. I will start FOR threads on it.
ya know.. come to think of it... I have one of those giant old TV antennas in my back yard that isn't connected to anything. I wonder if I could pick up the dallas broadcast with it.
Boys win. Hands down. And not just any regular hand. A big foam one like this But like 2 of them so it's hand(s) down.
packers didn't play anybody yet? who did the cowboys play again? outside of the pats, i don't see anyone special they've played. anytime you played miami and rams when they were both winless, and miami still winless, you shouldn't brag about your schedule. the packers should beat the bears and perfect right now, they had 5 TO that and still only lost by 7 or something, while the cowboys got lucky in a couple of games that i can remember.
Where are all you people that jumped on me for saying that the Cowboys have not played anybody and that it did not matter who they played? He is saying the same thing about Green Bay. Hello? Hello?
Gotta say GB really took me by surprise. I initially blew them off as just getting off to a hot start, but they have really stepped up their game the past few weeks when I thought they would start to fall off some. Cowboys have more on the line for this one imo, as it would be a big disadvantage to play in GB in the playoffs if it comes to that. I don't know what to expect in this one, which is cool. I'll be listening to the radio. Go Cowboys!
Very happy that I happen to get NFL network in HD at my place. Excited to see this game every bit as I was Colts-Pats. The NFL really does suck, but I remain 10x more upset about the exclusive DirectTV Sunday Ticket deal than the Thursday night games. That's the biggest horse**** of all time. Cable companies also suck, not just for this specifically, but for their regional monopolies and "package" options, which blackmail everyone. Congress keeps talking about doing something, but I guess those lobbiest dollars still have purchasing power. Evan
yeah, and it's a dumb argument no matter who says it on what side =P but you lost my potential backing when you said "GO PACK!"...are you a fan of the Eagles or are you a fan of 'I hate the Cowboys'? I seriously don't get people who are rabidly anti-Cowboys I can honestly say to you that I don't care one way or the other about the Eagles, Redskins, and Giants...they are all the same and equal to me, every one of them is a longtime old division rival. I don't root for any of them to lose a particular week, except in situations where it is absolutely necessary for the Cowboys to get in the playoffs. yet it seems like to most fans of those 3 teams, they always look at the Cowboys game as the most heated and biggest
Don't act like there are not Cowboy fans who act this way. That is you but trust me there are Cowboys fans who do the same thing.
That they root for their division rivals to lose, not just the Eagles. If somebody started a thread about the Giants or the Redskins playing somebody then I would root for the team facing one of them but not a division rival. Just like I was rooting for the Lions when they played the Giants or the Buccaneers when they were playing the Redskins.
oh yeah, no doubt there are Cowboys fans like that too. but we should all strive to be better people Packers are awesome this year, certainly didn't expect them to be this way. will be a good game overall
