...5th pick in the 2007 NFL draft the Houston Texans select

    Jeff Samardzija.

No time like the present to discuss the Texans and the Draft.

I think they're just good enough to land the 5th pick but not the 1st. Which is good coz then the pain of passing on AD will be avoided.

Nevertheless, the Texans will find a new way to blow the pick and send fans running for the phones and keyboards to express thier collective displeasure. "True fans" will align themselves on the front lines ready to counter any arguments against said Texans pick with whatever kool-aid Mcnair/Kubiack/lapdog GM provideds. In this case I'm guessing something like Moulds is old, Andre needs a 2nd reciever, he's a good route runner, blah blah blah...

Let's have at it boys. 9 months untill draft day 2007. Where, who, and how will the the Texans pick.

Samardzija is unbelievable. However, I want that first rounder going either to the OLine or to the secondary.

Hoopefully they'll have better luck trading down and gtting Landry from LSU or Merriweather from Miami.

Its way, WAY too early to do this thread.

No idea who the best college players are going to be this year, nor the weaknesses of which NFL teams.

Please for the love of God....lets not start thinking of the draft 2 games into the season...

cause once we start doing that...its a short putt til someone uses the T word.

Then alleged fans start to get mad at us for trying to win games.

I think Samardzija will be lucky to go earlier than the 3rd round.

If he were smart he'd go pro in baseball.. even if he sucks.. he could still play longer and probably make more money.. and not get the snot knocked out of him every sunday..

Seems my pick of Jeff is confusing. Anyone who watches CFB knows that Jeff is talented but nowhere near a top 5 pick. However, it helps illustrate how inept the Texans are on draft day. It is not out of the realm of possibility that the Texans blow the pick and select jeffy boy.

A for who the best CFB players are. With out a doubt it's Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson. I'm might be in the minority in thinking Brian Brohm is the best QB in college. His injuries though might cost him a few spots.

    Rhett Bomar = Ryan Leaf

    Edit:
The guy has the hieght, smarts, and hands to make a great reciever. What's gonna kill him is his 40 time at the combine.

Bomar will be playing QB at Sam Houston in 2007. He's sitting out this year.

Once again, for the 1000th time, if Houston took Reggie Bush, Mario Williams was going no lower than #2 to New Orleans. So, whether or not he pans out, Mario was still a top 5 pick, period.

As someone who was in the "Draft D'Brick" camp (all 2 of us) during the offseason, I'd still like to see the Texans draft a damn O-lineman with their #1 pick. The O-line has been the "elephant in the room" for nigh on 5 years now. Enough is enough.
