Well we're set for next Sunday now. It will be the Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints, Chicago Bears, and New England Patriots. Pick the winners, discuss the match-ups and games.

    My picks:

    Colts and Bears

If they don't choke, the Saints will beat the Bears, maybe easily. It was emotional for me when that FG went through, but it's clear the Bears lucked out and Seattle was the better team.

For obvious reasons, my instinct on the Pats/Colts is Pats like most people. But after what the baseball Cardinals did, I'm not so sure.

Pats over Saints in the Super Bowl. I want the Bears to play the Colts. That would be the ultimate Super Bowl for me, kind of like the Rockets vs. Pacers in the NBA Finals.

Bears - weather will be a big factor

Colts - Peyton finally gets the monkey off his back & defense playing spectcular right now.

Said this in the divisional thread...

Over/under on the number of times the Fox announcers say or allude to "how great this is for the city of New Orleans"?

Patriots - Never vote against this team in the playoffs. Dillon and Maroney will reappear against the Colt's run D.

    v.

Saints - This is truly a team of destiny, and Deuce will not let them lose.

Don't ever count out Tom Montana. The guy is lucky and damn clutch. Plus, Manning has been playing like garbage the last month. The Bears will find a way to win an ugly game against NO.

Pats vs Bears rematch of SB20. "SKIN DA BEARS!"

    7-1 prediction record so far.

    Colts and Saints.

Indy's defense will be dominant again, like it was against KC and Baltimore. And Peyton Manning will do what he has to do to defeat Brady for the first time in the playoffs. Also, the fact that this game will be played indoors in Indianapolis is a huge plus for the Colts - Tom Brady has a significant edge when it comes to playing in harsh cold weather conditions.

Rex Grossman will be blitzed like there's no tomorrow. He will fumble at least once and throw at least one INT, both resulting in points for New Orleans. Chicago still has a defensive edge, but they don't have the poise of a championship team. The fairy tale continues for jazz city.

    Colts win the Superbowl.

I don't see the Saints losing to the Bears unless they choke. Bears don't look good out there.

Not overly impressed by either the Colts or Pats, but I'll take the Colts just cause they are eventually due to win one of these games.

at this point, my thought is "yawn." aside from the saints game, i found all of these games pretty boring this weekend.

    i'll say Pats v. Saints.

The underdog covered all 4 games... meaning they were all "closer" than expected.

Frankly, you can't buy that sort of excitement... unless u happen to bet with the underdog this week... and go 4-0. ;)

No kidding I thought the action was great this weekend.

    Anyway.

Bears will beat the saints, saints are much more vunerable on the road and their defense won't be good enough to pull it off, weather will ground a lot of their air attack.

Pats will continue to haunt the Colts

Colts vs. Pats is a SCARY game...

First of all, neither team is as good as they once was.

Second of all, Indy has yet to play "their" game this post-season.

Third, New England has virtually abandoned the running game in favor of the 5 wide receiever set... which plays into Indy's hands.

Fourth, Manning has looked awful and will continue to look awful as long as its the playoffs.

Fifth, the game is in Indianapolis, where they're 9-0.

The ONLY reason to think the Pats will cover, or even win the game, is because they've done it in the past. Sort of like Red Sox-Yankees, before the Red Sox eventually won. If the Pats had won impressively yesterday, things may be different... but this is not a "dominant" Pats team that is attempting to win another road game.

Thus, this may be a game I don't touch... scary.

i guess if i had money down on these games it would be more interesting.

but i'm not enamored with any of these teams. i feel like, other than the saints, these teams are backing in to wins.

Honestly, I think the NFL (and the greater public) couldn't have gotten more out of the 4 possible Super Bowl matchups... with the exception of Dallas taking Chicago's place (but Chicago is still a historical team, with a HUGE following).

The NFL is so even nowadays, its gonna be hard for any of these teams to win impressively.

But, you have the best "story" in the Saints, you have the closest recent Dynasty (the Pats) vs. the NFL's "golden boy" (Manning). And then you have the historic Bears... who represent the biggest market in the playoffs.

Teams like Seattle, Baltimore, and San Diego are the NFL's worst nightmare... good teams, but ones with small followings, smaller markets, and no real passion behind them (besides the fact that they're just good this year).

This year's Super Bowl is guaranteed to be a ratings bonanza... I'm already excited for it.

i'm not talking about win impressively. i'm talking about playing impressively.

games where no one can put the ball in the end zone. games where teams are winning simply because the other doesn't bother showing up. i think the NOLA game was the exception...and honestly, I THINK they're the best team left.

I think you're underestimating the defensive performances of some of these teams thus far... its no coincidence that the ones left in the playoffs are the ones who have either played the best defense all season (the Bears), or have shown up in the playoffs (Indy, and the Pats being able to slow down LT enough).

I thought the Chargers defense was fantastic yesterday... they just made too many STUPID mistakes to overcome. The Saints defense will need to win it for them on Sunday... I see their offense getting stifled on the road, with the weather conditions.

i'm not underestimating anything. i recognize the value of a great defense. i just haven't found these games very compelling. i'm not trying to convince you to take my position. i've just found myself bored with these games. the same way i found myself turning off the Super Bowl last year.
