Texans on the clock Sunday, March 29, 2009 | 9:55 AM John McClain of the Houston Chronicle talks about the Texans team needs in the 2009 Draft. I would love Clay Matthews as a Texan! http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80f7129a
CW would be a great pick, if he's still there at #15. If not his USC teammate Brian Cushing would be good.
There's a truckload of rumors that, more so than any player, Cushing is the product of the finest roids and HGH cocktails that human science can conjure. Edit: check this pic: http://www.maddentips.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7143&stc=1&d=1235053384
Not saying he did or didn't, but guys can bulk up through their college years by eating right and working out as much as he probably did. Most guys tend to fill out in those years. I didn't really fill out till a few years after college.
If Clay Matthews has the same motor his father had, this is a no-brainer. On a sidenote: My goodness, John, lay off the baked potatoes. Otherwise we're gonna have to rename you, John McCCCCChins.
He's smaller than he was in high school in the first picture. Apparently he gained 45 lbs of muscle in high school, then lost it when he went to USC, then put it back on. http://grg51.typepad.com/steroid_nation/2007/01/brian_cushing_i.html http://grg51.typepad.com/steroid_nation/2007/01/more_on_defensi.html Also, gynomastia anybody?
Footage of Cushing when he finally made starter at USC. Disturbing. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YMSSmI6P2QA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YMSSmI6P2QA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Has John McClain ever successfully reported any player, through draft or free agency, that the Texans were interested in? He's typically as surprised as we are.
True, I just would hope the Texans are keeping the player they are targetting a little less obvious than the way McClain makes it sound. He has been on the radio and in the papers saying how interested they are in Matthews.
Agree...They shouldn't put it out there who they want...unless they are trying to make teams think this.. btw love the name chilly_pete Chilcutt
mcclain obviously has some sentimental investment in matthews - covered and loved his uncle for 20 years, spent years following the oilers when they played his dad twice a year (who, iirc, was loved by the media, as well)... so i don't think it's a smokescreen as much as it's wishful (albeit possible) thinking on his part. supposedly, the texans - smith, specifically - are VERY tight-lipped so i doubt mcclain is getting this from the team.
