Super Bowl Johnson: ‘You want to win rings’ It’s surprising, at least to me, at how many people who are here for Super Bowl week and not the Super Bowl. Texans WR Andre Johnson chatted for a few minutes before joining Scott Hanson on camera. He’s here for the week before heading back to Houston on Saturday to watch the game at home. Then he’s headed to the Pro Bowl. When it comes to the Pro Bowl, it’s always interesting to see who the players take on the trip — Johnson is taking his younger brother, his mom, uncle, two aunts, and almost all of the Texans receivers. When informed that teammate Owen Daniels was named to the AFC squad, Johnson quipped, “I guess my vote paid off.” Johnson’s Super Bowl prediction is Cardinals 20, Steelers 17. “I just got this funny feeling Arizona is going to edge them out,” Johnson said. “They’re hot right now.” Had to ask Johnson one serious question and he did agree it was tough to be at the Super Bowl, but not be playing in it. “I think that’s why all of us play the game,” Johnson said. “As football players, that’s the biggest goal, that’s the place you want to be. You want to win rings. When you’re playing this game, you want to see how many rings you can get before you finish. That’s my goal. Seeing the Cardinals here should give a lot of teams hope. No one thought they’d be here. That’s everyone’s goal.” http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/01/28/johnson-you-want-to-win-rings/ Check it out!
I think the Texans have as much chance to win a championship over the next 5 years or so as virtually anyone else. It's the NFL after all.
Yeah, it always amazes me when people make these blanket statements about what will happen in the indefinite future... in a year where the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Rays have played for their league's championships.
Do you not think the Texans should be able to make the playoffs next year or the year after? Anything can happen once youre in.
It's all about making the playoffs. Once you're in, all bets are off. This team is poised to make a major playoff push in '09. The schedule has turned in our favor, our division seemingly has gotten weaker (just look at the head-to-head match-ups the Texans had this past year.....aside from the first game at Tennessee, the Texans were either won, or could have won every game all the way until the end), and the Texans as a team are at their peak in terms of talent and coaching.
