This is dangerous and irresponsible as shown by the fact that they accidentally shot three of their own. There was also an armed militia group at the same protest opposing BLM. We already had one person shot and killed in Austin. Groups like this are just pouring gasoline on a smoldering pile. One incident even accidental, could lead to a horrific tragedy

Sooo which is it? I highly doubt they qualifiy as a real militia since they have been marching and trying to stir up **** with other groups. That makes them something else if you really look at their actions, words, and aim.

    militia
    /mɪˈlɪʃə/

    noun
    1. a military force that is raised from the civil population to supplement a regular army in an emergency.
"creating a militia was no answer to the army's manpower problem"
      • a military force that engages in rebel or terrorist activities in opposition to a regular army.
      • (in the US) all able-bodied civilians eligible by law for military service.

It's definitely a powder keg, and with much of police departments defacto allied with white nationalist groups (because many cops are white nationalists themselves) the police are likely to be more tolerant of one sides provocations. With two protest groups having weapons and the police unable to prevent one side from provoking the other, it's a high risk that violence between these two groups will erupt and potentially escalate into more broader terms.

This has the potential to turn into Northern Ireland. The IRA and pro-British paramilitaries were fighting each other and the UK sent in troops to keep the peace in 1969. Those troops were seen by the Catholic population as being on the side of the pro-British groups. While they were at times they weren't always and that ended up being a 40 year three sided conflict that devastated the region and spilled over the Irish Sea into England.

That's not something any of us should want to see on the streets of the US.

Prove your claim that police depts. are allied with white hate groups.

I think police would stand down and let this burn out because police are unable to handle a militarized battle. This needs national guard nearby to ensure safety.

There is very low trust in the police for good reason. And the police are associated with the far right. Unless this changes, that is the direction we are heading in, yes.

Right now you have groups who have always been anti-police seeing the BLM challenge as an opportunity to combine forces. This is a highly volatile situation. And you have far right propaganda with a narrative that it's all the antifa boogieman which is only serving to further divide and escalate.

Steps need to be taken to de escalate and move towards reform quickly before it gets out of hand.

Apparently their leader didn’t get the message about using the word master...

The NFAC was formed this summer by Johnson, who refers to himself as the “Official Grand Master Jay.”

With power, comes great responsibility. Or something like that.

lots of self constraints is needed on all parties

And given the fed gov party in Portland hasn't shown much constraints... this could escalate and backfire fast if those paramilitary force is sent to engage this group

They should use words but alas. Live by the sword... die by the sword. I hold no pity for fools like this.

Armed militias pop up when trust in (supposedly) professional law enforcement is lacking. The solution, to me, for the failings of law enforcement is to improve it-- rethink its purpose, funding, training, equipment, fundamentally restructure it like Trenton did if police unions are the problem, etc.-- not to have no law enforcement and leave it to volunteer groups with even less training and accountability.

At least he didn't go with Grand Dragon Jay.
    _______

Dozens of Three Percenters also showed up in camouflage and carrying guns. They had a noticeably smaller turnout, with some participants referring to them as the One Percenters because of their small show of force.

it quotes studies and factual pieces. Naturally you didn't bother to go through those but instead just jumped to a summary view that reinforces your bias
