I've been wondering who if anyone the Rox are planning on cutting with the one time exemption and what kind of deals we are planning. My thoughts. We cut CWard outright.. we buy him out and remove him from our team. Then we sign SSwift (his other suitors seem to have made commitments using their MLE) If the Clips sign SAR (at a decent rate) I expect EBrand to be traded.. you can still miss the lottery while trimming payroll. It could be Sterling has realized EBrand will not get them into the playoffs if were not going to make it anyways why pay him so much? EBrand for the expiring contracts of CSpoon/Moochie + TE We will move DWesley / JHoward in a S&T w/ Seattle for AD + filler that way we keep our MLE intact. I envision our roster to look like.. PG - ADaniels / MJames / LHead SG - BSura / JBarry SF - TMac / BSura / JBarry PF - EBrand / SSwift C - Yao / Deke we still have VBaker / SPadgett / RBowen sounds like a contender to me? What triggered this was the Clips going after SAR.. why keep both when SAR can give you almost the same production and the same results (lottery) while cost cutting?!? Interesting isnt it? J
CD would have to blackmail Baylor and Sund for those scenarios to happen. Especially the first. If the Clips made available a 20-10 PF with no character issues, a good work ethic, and still in his prime, you can believe their door would be knocked down by over half the GMs in the league. Evan
The Rockets get Brand for Moochie, Spoon, and TE?!?! Wow! How does that happen? And how do the Rockets have enough money to pay Brand, if the Clippers are stupid enough to make that deal? And how do we get A. Daniels. And we get Swift too? Not that I don't like all this, but how does it happen?
The interesting part is a near All-Star caliber player for 2 IR players. I guess the plan is to drug or blackmail 28 other GM's before they realized we've pulled this off.
It would be nice to get Antoino Daniels but i suspect he is staying in seattle or following Mcmillan to Portland.

hahaha well I did state it was speculation. I guess you guys are the same people that thought We would never get Tmac (Tmac/JHoward for SF3/Cat/Cato) no way! Or how about RWallace from Atlanta for Sura/James? VCarter for trash? It happens.. My thoughts were "IF" the Clippers ended up signing SAR what need would they have of keep EBrand? Both players are non-impact players that put up good stats on poor teams? If the Clips can pick up SAR with a good contract and dont expect to make the playoffs anyways why keep a huge payroll? For the Clips its a cost cutting measure for their stingy owner.. I read an article a few years backs talking about DSterling and how he sacrifices the teams chance at winning for his personal profit. Why not continue to live in lottery and save money while your at it? Im just saying who knows... what else are expiring contracts good for other than saving money? anyways the main reason I started this thread was to see what other moves people thought we would be making. Or at least that's what it feels like since we're waiting and we know it's $ vs. team. I'm thinkin we'll land Swift, and that'll be the end of the off season. Maybe something minor at the swing spot

My intention isn't to add any fuel to the fire here but if we're dreamcasting here about trading for an All-Star calibur forward wouldn't Shawn Marion make the most sense? Think about it: Phoenix will needs some financial flexiblity to lock down Amare and with the trade for Kurt Thomas and the eventual signings of Joe Johnson to a perhaps max deal as well as adding Raja Bell.....where does Marion play out into all of this? Marion is already on a max deal. If they do infact lock down Joe Johnson to a max deal and with the eventual max contract for Amare coming.....can the team really afford to keep 3 max contract players as well as Nash who is already making in the upwards of $10M+?? I do realize the catch with all of this is Yao's inevitable max contract issue will have to be addressed as well at some point which would leave us with 3 max contract players as well. Just trying to go along with this and generate some intelligent conversation. I do realize how unlikely this is given that neither the Rockets nor the Suns are in a position in which they are willing to do each other any favors. Inter conference trades between rivals are rare but stranger things have happened. Any thoughts?
