If we decide to stand pat with what we have now what do you think our record will be at the end of next year. Our Current Roster. PG - Sura / MJames / CWard / Moochie SG - DWes / JBarry / LHead SF - TMac / RBowen PG - SSwift / JHoward / CSpoon / VBaker C - Yao / Deke im not sure who we end up cutting under the Allan Houston Rule could be CWard or Moochie. I like Spoon and Baker because at least they saw some PT last year. (in case of emergency) well if we go to battle next year with this roster what do you think our record will be? We finished last season 51 - 31 while playing like crap in Oct. / Nov. but we made some nice moves and finish 51 - 31 and 5th in the West. Personally I think we go on and win 60 games this year.. (which we could have won last year if we started the season strong) and go onto the WCF's where we lose to SA until we shore up up our PG situation. We had a ton of injuries / roster changes and still finished strong which is a testament to our team / players / coach. J
will be the same as last year's, with ups and downs.. but i'm sure we'll make it to the second round in the postseason.
I think the chemistry carried over from last year, and the addtion of Stro will propel us over 55 wins.
It's gonna be around somewhere from 57-62 with an appearance in the Western Conference Finals and possibly the Finals.
assuming a fairly healthy season, there's no reason we shouldn't win at least 56 with the amount of talent we'll have. i suppose barry, howard, and wesley could fall off significantly due to being a year older, but that shouldn't happen. so anything under 56 would be a disappointment. 60+ would be quite a surprise to me and be a huge step forward, and really seems out of reach for at least another year. we should make the 2nd round but dallas could edge us in regular season wins again (meaning another 5th seed at best) and could still beat us with homecourt. a WCF appearance would also be a surprise, though i don't think anyone other than san antonio is clearly our superior.
I want to wait and see. I still think we need a PG. If we can get a PG then I can see 55+ wins and a 4 seed and a deep run in the playoffs.
we finished 45-20 last year, a 57 win pace. and that's not a small streak, that's 80% of the season. and that included several games where rod strickland was our starting pg thanks to a sura injury. now we have mike james to prevent either ward or strickland (or moochie) from playing, and the same starter (sura) still around. so i see no reason that pg play can be used as an excuse for not getting to 55 wins since it's at least as good as it was last year, and better than the half season w/o james.
I think about 55 wins is right. It may depend on our playoff situation though. JVG showed last year that if there's a mathematical possibility of reaching up we'll do it. In hindsight Sura and Wesley's minutes in that stretch run probably hurt us somewhat. This could be a 60 win team, but I'm still very iffy about our guards. If our frontcourt can compensate it could eaily happen. But I think all of us expect an addition near the trade deadline (so many expiring contracts). I'd sacrifice wins for developing chemistry around the teams we know we have to beat in the playoffs. It feels good to really mean that, it's been awhile...
Are we sure JBarry and Deke are going to resign???? All the talk sounds good, but it is just talk until there is a signed contract.
So far, the poll indicates that 96% of the fans believe that we will have more wins than last year. Glad to see the optimism and the other 4% will be proven wrong. The Rox will have the best year since the championship years
I think it's funny out of 274 responses thus far you have 4 "whackos" that voted for less than 40 (A-Train, did you vote? ), 3 guys that voted for 41-45 that are much more impressed than I with the Western Conf. this year compared to the last two, and only 6 (two more than the whackos) voted for a very respectable 45-50. We are a happy bunch.
