At the end of next season, what all contracts expire and what will our cap room be for 2008?

The only players coming off the books are Sura & Bonzi, with team options on JL3, Novak, Snyder and Luther. Chump change salary. If Rafer is on the block and gets traded for shorter term, we might get under the cap. All Les cares about is the luxury tax so we are fine in that regard.

Realistically we will be over the cap until McGrady retires. So don't worry about cap space for a looooong time.

You think after Tmac's super deal is over he will ever play for us for 9-10 mil? 15 mil (how much VC signed for) is way to much for us to afford for an aging player. Do you think he will hang it up after his last year of this deal?

He will probably be done by the end of his contract. Not that he isn't capable of playing anymore, but he'll probably want to move on in life. Remember, he wanted to start a baseball career. (Astros anyone? :) )

I think the deciding factor on that is how succesful the team has been after 3 years. T-Mac seems like the kind've guy who might just hang em up if its 3 more years of first round exits...but at the same time if by some chance we are a championship team or on the cusp I could see him coming back on the cheap...hopefully alot cheaper then you mentioned.

I also noticed that hoopshype doesn't have scola or landry accounted for yet...so tack on another 3-4 million to our total team salary.

Both LeBron and Wade have opt outs the summer TMac's contract comes off the books. We need to keep flexibility to be under the cap for that summer (2010), to have a shot at another superstar to pair with Yao. It would be nice to move Battier for an expiring contract before then.

    LOL.

You know what makes me so freaking pissed, Shawn Marion makes more than Shane, who does that make sense to? He makes more than Yao too! Glad he's not on our books ::knocks on wood::.

hopefully, lebron or wade wants to come to houston, i can see lebron do it, for buisness and money wise and maybe wade, since shaq is gone, he needs a new big man. in reality, in order for us to be contenders, we have to have some nasty draft picks, and we already lost our 2 2nd round picks, (sure they may be late, but they can always be a redd, mobely, ben wallace, or others.) hopefully we can trade lucas or novak for some draft picks.

we can be a major FA player in 2010. Tmac, rafer, james , head and scola(when he signs) comes of the books at that time
