Lets assume two things. Cato improves, and Cat resigns. If we can get one more solid power player we are set. Put Hakeem at backup center, he is still a decent Defender. Francis is a year better, Walt if he stays is going to be solid. Shandon is fitting into the system, and Mobley is a allstar caliber player. I think if Cato can learn to rebound and get a 10 ft jumper we can play with anyone look at this lineup.

    Cato/Olajuwon
    Free agent/ Thomas/Carlos
    Walt/draft pick (mike miller)/ Carlos
    Shandon/ Cat
    Steve/Moochie

Trade Drew for a decent pick, release bullard. And sign Rashard Lewis.

I don't agree totally.... I can assume that Cat will resign but not that Cato will be here....

Cato is out in my opinion cause Rudy hates underachievers, look at Roderick Rhodes and Stanley Roberts; not to mention Thomas Hamilton.

Look for Drew and Cato, and maybe Williams and even Mobley, to be signed sealed and delivered out of Houston come next season.

I hear that VanHorn is on the block (NBATalk.com). Lets say we:
    <OL>
[*] Sign Mobely (I really hope he stays)
    [*] Sign Lewis for exception
    [*] Trade Drew/TMass for Kandi
    [*] Draft Miller
[*] Trade Cato(6)/Rogers(3)/exception(4.5)/draft pick for Keith Van Horn (13)

    We'd have:

    Dream/Kandi/Miller
    Van Horn/Thomas
    Williams/Lewis/Miller/Bullard
    Anderson/Mobely
    Francis/Norris

What I don't know is how the cap works on this. Anyone know if this would work?

I definitely agree that re-signing Cat is a top priority. Getting Lewis? I can't really see that happening. The guy will be worth a lot more than $2 mil and he may still be a little bitter, but we can always hope.

I like Van Horn, but he's not exactly a defensive monster, so I'm ambivalent about this proposal. Plus, I think the market for Van Horn would garner much more than just Cato an Rogers.

Why does everyone like Kandi so much? He's seems like a huge disappointment for a #1 draft pick. His numbers are equivalent to Cato's while playing 7 more mpg. His fg% is also only .438 compared to Cato's .532. I haven't seen a lot of Clippers games this year, so someone who has please inform me why this guy is all that impressive.

As for Miller, I'm from University of Florida and see Miller as a SF with adequate speed, a good drive, and a decent jump shot. He is excitable though and does tend to force long jumpers (think Mobley in the first half of the season) and sometimes makes careless mistakes like losing his dribble off his own leg. His defense in Florida's full-court press was adequate, but his half-court D definitely left something to be desired. Looking at you scheme, you have the 3 spot running 4 deep. Miller should only be drafted if Walt is traded, or if we just want to use Miller as trade-bait for another team.
