With all this talk about our easy schedule, let’s discuss sitting at 9-9, we play Washington next, they have picked it up and have wins against pelicans and clippers recently, they are much better at home, which is where we play. We play mavs after that, they beat Celtics tonight, nets last game, warriors two games before that, and just crushed the jazz by 50 points 3 games before. They also played Memphis a tough close game after warriors. They are much worse on the road and we play them at home, but we just lost to Cavs (yes no Chris Paul) sooo Then we play spurs in San Antonio. If we lose these, which I would say is like a 40% chance possibility, we would probably be looking at being the 14th seed in the west, 21 games in the season!! Who would have freaking thought?? Melo is gone, Jeff B is back, now what? I know we have had suspensions/injuries/horrible impossibly bad shooting (sound familiar?), but those are all parts of the game everyone has to overcome that separates teams, we mostly did so last year and ended one game away from trophy. Morey has got to do something. We can’t rest, no room. We also can’t play a 7-8 man rotation for 60 games remaining.
the rockets will never tank so the only question is how to we dig ourselves out? shop knight plus picks for: james johnson, ariza, or maybe a 3 team deal sending shumpert to the blazers and harkless to us. shop nene and/or chriss with picks for guys like dedmon, tyus, ed davis. get lucky with buyouts for guys like carroll or sefolosha. none of it is that exciting, and none of it will make us a championship team this year, but we can compete and maybe get back to the WCF if we plug some holes.
I hope we lose the next 3 so Morey actually does something. There was an actual sense of urgency from the front office when we were on that losing streak. Now after we win a couple games, it's like everyone thinks this team is fine. It's not fine at all! We need to get actual players who can produce off the bench or we won't survive the regular season, let alone the playoffs. BK seems like he will never be healthy again and we're pathetically relying on rooks and benchwarmers to outperform for us. Guys like MCW, Qi, Nene (sadly because of his age), Melo shouldn't even be in the league, let alone be taking spots on our bench.
Sadly I agree, but I still think with Chris Paul back and healthy we probably either win all 3 or go 2-1, it would be fool’s gold. I think it’s best for the team if they do lose the next 3, something has to be done. I think there’s news that Brandon Knight is coming back December. But If the hope is on Brandon Knight and nene fixing this team, then I just don’t know what to say...I would still give Qi another year or two, he seems to have potential for our system, but I haven’t even seen him play garbage time or G league which makes no sense unless he’s injured again.
Those are good solutions actually that would probably shake things up, what we need. It’s 21 games in the season, no more waiting. Players will need time to get it going with this team.
Anthony Mason played 46 minutes out of 48 minutes during one season. There is no reason why Harden can't beat that and play 47 minutes out of 48 minutes as the MVP.
Wow. Wilt played over 46 minutes his entire career. Iverson played 43 minutes , 3 times during his career. NBA players are wuss today. Need rest and can't play more than 38 minutes. Give me those Iverson, Wilt, Mason, Sprewell and their 43 minutes a game
Players were tougher in the past, but it also has to do with the pace of the game, it was slower back then...other than Lebron, it hasn’t been done recently. Harden usually is top 5 every season in minutes per game.
Mason in 1996 finished Top 10 in MVP voting Made all NBA Made all NBA Defense Played 43 minutes 16 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists. ALL NBA DEFENSE. pretty good for role player 1996–97 Charlotte 73 73 43.1 .525 .333 .745 11.4 5.7 1.0 .5 16.2
Again, you had a scorer on your bench but foolishly waived him after 10 games. Our bench is weak right now & we're depending WAY too much on Harden & CP. You guys keep acting like other teams will trade with us, but who wants MCW, Chriss, Nene & a hurt Brandon Knight. This could get very ugly if one of our stars gets injured
I think melo as a player was ok to keep for rainy days, but he wasn’t willing to accept that role. It appears to have been a mutual decision. And the team suddenly getting a boost of energy and enjoying playing together, which was not the case before his departure, has to say something. I know CP, harden, management, and coaching praised his attitude, but what are they gonna say? “Oh yeah melo is a cancer so we decided that even though we don’t have anyone on the bench, we are still gonna let him go because his attitude and affect on our team isn’t worth the contribution to the bench as a limited role”..? If they said that after someone who laughed at people just last year at the idea of coming off the bench and accepted to come off the bench for us on a vet min deal, then this franchise would be in some deep trouble adding any free agents in the future.
