Damm dude, 24 days... ouch. Well, if you have to smoke, be a little smarter, and don't carry it with you !!!!!!!!!! Better yet, Quit that $hit !
Well first of all, I don't carry the stuff around on me as a rule. A friend of mine gave me a sample of some stuf he'd just grown and I was on my way home to try it out. Secondly, I guess I will have to stop untill I'm in a position to grow my own stuff. I will not take the risk of driving with any again. I think the anti-marijauna laws are unjust, as I was harming no one. I only smoke in the comfort and safety of my own home where it's no ones damn business what I do.
If that was your first offense, you had a pretty crappy lawyer. I would think at worst you would have gotten probation with deferred adjudication. Also, why were you stopped to begin with? Did the cops stop you and search you for no reason? It sounds like there is more to this story than simply having some pot in your pocket. Let that be a lesson. Don't do drugs.
LOL. Please let me hear your argument for including mar1juana on the banned substance list. It's less dangerous than caffeine and has proven time and time again to be non-addictive. The whole story is this: I had a friend who was growing weed for the first time. He harvested it, called me to offer a sample because I gave him tips here and there with his "project". I got off work at 9pm and me and a guy from work went to get it.(Friend driving) Picked it up while my friend who didn't know the other friend waited downstairs. Got the bag, thanked my friend and left. Got to 1960 in the Champions area and bam, lights in the rear view. I had a sweater that I wasn't wearing in my lap and I threw it in the floorboard.(no reason too, just didn't think it would be a big deal really) Cop comes up and asks both my friend the driver and me to step out of the car. He tells my friend that he didn't signal when while changing lanes and thats why he stoped us, but says he saw me throw something on the floor and wants to search the car. My friend consents and he searches, finding nothing. He then searches me, finding my pot in my pocket. I was arrested on the spot. My friend wasn't ticketed. They offered me a year probation with defered, i declined. I can accept that I broke the law(no matter my feelings concerning said law) and I am willing to do the time. I am not willing, however, to help fund a pointless drug war by paying the fines and court-required "donations" to crimestoppers and DARE. I am also unwilling to submit myself to a years worth of drug tests for obvious reasons. The Man won this battle, but I still believe America will wake up and end this rediculous war.
Ya... I am just wondering if you could give me a few links to some valid research that mar1juana isnt bad for you. Its not that I dont beleive you , but I always thought of pot as about as dangerous as drinking alcohol. I have never heard from anyone, besides stoners, that its "less dangerous than caffeine".
If it came from Cannabis.com, then it must be true ANNUAL AMERICAN DEATHS CAUSED BY DRUGS TOBACCO .........................400,000 ALCOHOL .........................100,000 ALL LEGAL DRUGS ................20,000 ALL ILLEGAL DRUGS ..............15,000 CAFFEINE ............................2,000 ASPIRIN ................................500 mar1juana .............................0 ---------------------------------------- Source: United States government... National Institute on Drug Abuse, Bureau of Mortality Statistics
You can get a lot of info from NORML (The National Organization for the Reform of mar1juana Laws). I'd go looking for specific stuff for you, but I'm too lazy. Besides, I think all drugs should be legalized, so I don't really have the need to go find the specifics for myself. Here's the site: http://www.norml.org/ Legalize.
24 days sucks. I once spent 7 hours in jail and I thought I was gonna freak, I cannot imagine 24 days. What kind of food are they serving these days?
That's what my dad used to say about cigarettes. Nobody has any proof. Ya. Ok dad. You're right. There was no proof. But guess what. Now there is. He should have used common sense. I'm glad you don't smoke and drive. That is admirable. And I'm ok with your right to smoke it in the privacy of your own home. That is your home. You have that right if you ask me, but to ignore the fact that it's bad for you and a risk for others is silly. Sometimes you have to listen to what people are screaming at you. Sometimes you have to use good judjement.
Clearly these stats don't take into account people driving while high on mar1juana. And there's one category that says, "all illegal drugs." Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that include mar1juana??? All implies the entire universe of illegal drugs...and mar1juana certainly falls in that category...so why the separate category?? As for comparing tobacco to all illegal drugs..ummm, could it be that MANY more people consume MUCH more tobacco than they do those drugs??? And caffeine...damn, it's amazing that only 2,000 people would die from caffeine complications considering how much soda and coffee people drink in this nation!!! But I'm a bit suspect of these stats...I don't know what they account for...i don't know how people die from caffeine...are these simply overdose deaths...they're clearly not deaths where you could simply say the substance had a role in the person's demise.
I don't drink and drive....anymore. I wasn't so smart when I was younger, and there are plenty of times when I should not have been behind the wheel. That being said, I know what the charts say about how much alcohol I should have before I'm "legally drunk," and I know for a fact that I'm much better off behind the wheel at that just "legally intoxicated" point than I am if I where stoned. I don't care how many studies you point to, although I have no business behind the wheel when legally intoxicated, I have even less business behind the wheel stoned. Pot also acts as more of a depressant for me than alcohol....in fact, that was the main reason why I quit. It also made me incredibly lazy, and after so many years, I'm still battling weight problems from all those pounds I put on when I smoked. I have mixed feelings about pot being illegal, but I know that it is, and I would have no one to blame but myself if I would have gotten caught when I did smoke. I would imagine that for most people, they are better off stoned than legally intoxicated, but don't even try to tell me that it's that way for everyone. I know for a fact it isn't. Pot is much worse for me, and I'd be surprised if I was alone. What's the point of all this? I don't have a problem with you smoking pot. If I saw you breaking into a house, I'd report your happy ass to the police, but I wouldn't even raise my eyebrows if I saw you toke'n a fatty. Hell, I still have friends that smoke in front of me. I don't even mind if it becomes legal. I wouldn't vote for it, but I doubt I'd go to the trouble to vote against it. But I'm SICK of hearing people tell me it's harmless. Pot is far from harmless.
I think they were just trying to give a sum-it-up category where the deaths from mar1juana in that section would be zero. Anyway, clearly these stats aren't 100% accurate. I mean, how are they counting people who die from tobacco. 400,000 people did not die last year from smoking too many cigarettes in one day. They might have died from lung cancer or smoking related problems. But, if that's the criteria, then I'm sure there was at least 1 person who died last year from a smoking related illness (say lung cancer) caused by too many years of smoking joints and the like. I don't think the number of marijuan related driving deaths would be that high, but clearly there had to be at least one there as well. I generaly don't understand the..."well of course there are more deaths, so many more people drink liquor or caffeine than smoke mar1juana" argument. That's the whole point, those are substances that are dangerous, yet a lot of people do legally take them anyway. Undeniably, smoking pot is harmful to the body, as is smoking cigarrettes or drinking too much. But, why it is illegal is beyond me. It isn't a gateway drug as many claim (yes, yes...every crackhead in America probably started with pot, but only a very small percentage of potheads move on to crack), its illegality leads to many complex relationships between America and South American countries (and violence amongst the people of those countries themselves), it could bring in a lot of tax dollars for the government, and it has other uses in other forms (hemp). But, the fact remains that they are currently illegal, so your story should be a lesson why not to take drugs. Just don't take the lesson's advice if you don't want to!
I think I can sum this thread up: COPS SUCK....they change lanes every damn time and NEVER...I MEAN NEVER....signal. Oh but their allowed to break the law. I'm afraid HtownHero or his friend either looked a certain way or was a certain race or something to warrant a cop pulling you over....cops don't typically pull people over for not signalling unless your driver friend was changing more than one lane without a signal and if he was....he wasn't being very cautious under the circumstances. They usually tack on a no signal to a speeding offense if they don't like you or you backtalk. I was pulled over a week or two ago for wearing my seatbelt and had a cop lie to my face so I understand cops and how they don't care and don't need reasons....they just do whatever they want to do. Cops can pull you over at any time for any reason...and make up whatever they want. Even if you didn't throw down your sweater, then a-hole cop numero uno could have said to a-hole cop numero dos that I smell something funny and search your car. Also, a pocket is never a good place for that...under any circumstances...ala NEVER. Try something creative...like put it in the windshield washer tank...no cop is going to look there and the only way they find it is if they bring out the dog on a refusal to search. Fish it out later. Or, put it in a better place on you. Regardless, it takes balls to serve the 24 days and not take the probation with testing and fine. My hats off to you and for those about to rock....we salute you. Fire. Surf
