Congratulations to Lebron. Hopefully, he can keep the number of mothers of his children down to about 1.
Doesn't the NBA have a little get together for all the rookies and give them all the do's and don'ts on growing up and getting wealthy over night? They need to include use of contraceptives as well. Calvin Murphy, Shawn Kemp, and now Lebron is on his way???
So is he gonna actually be a dad or just pay the woman to leave him alone? If he's gonna help father the child then congratulations to him. Seems a little young to me to have a kid, but it's his decision.
Based on the coverage, or lack thereof, I'm guessing the latter. The guy obviously does not want anyone to know about it. Kind of like how Shaq's been paying women(if what Kobe said was true) to shut up. I don't particularly care either way. Maybe I'm just too used to these stories. Lebron can do whatever he wants, as long as it's not illegal or anything.
I feel sorry for the kid though... He/She has a super star father who most likley dosnt give a crap about them becuase they were a mistake.
Man, Hopefully he will be a REAL father to the kid. If he is just paying money then I have lost TONS of respect for Lebron. As for the girls that trap these men....skanks...all of em. DD
Don't feel sorry for this kid. At least he/she will be provided for. There are hundreds of kids born each day that can't say the same.
Fathering illegitimate children is a lousy thing to do. I don't know what I dislike more: seeing it happen, or knowing how common it is. -- droxford
I hope for the kid's sake that you are right Max. Because no kid should grow up without a father...men who shirk that duty are the lowest of the lows. Being a dad is the most rewarding thing life has to offer. DD
Artical for above post http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1896256 ESPN.com news services LeBron James became a father Tuesday and promised to be a better dad than the one he had. "That's my main goal, to try to be a better father than the one I had," the second-year Cleveland Cavalier told the Akron Beacon Journal. "I didn't know him. I didn't know the situation he was in. But I'm going to do my job the best way I can." The baby boy, whom the NBA's 2003 rookie of the year reportedly had with a 19-year-old Akron woman, was delivered Tuesday evening, James' agent, Aaron Goodwin, told ESPN.com. Goodwin would not give any other details. The woman was due to deliver last weekend, the newspaper reported. According to the report, James was expected to miss a day, or possibly more, of training camp. James told the Beacon Journal the day before his son's birth that he was thrilled about pending fatherhood and wanted to be up front about his situation with his fans. "It is a wonderful opportunity in life," James, the No. 1 draft pick out of high school in 2003, said after Tuesday's practice. James, 19, keeps his personal life private and is very close to his family, especially his mother, Gloria. His mother had James when she was 16 and he never got to know his father, who's since passed away. James remains very active in the lives of Akron children; he's donated money to refurbish community centers and basketball courts and has helped outfit children with backpacks and other school supplies. An Olympian who helped Team USA win bronze in Athens, James did not discuss fatherhood with reporters during media day Monday in Cleveland. He got almost all of the attention, however; the team delayed James' entrance onto the practice floor for interviews so Cleveland's other players wouldn't sit alone at tables lining the court. He said he's looking forward to his second pro season. "I'm more mature now. I know what to expect," James said. "Going into last year I didn't know how the pace of the game was going to change. I didn't know how my teammates were going to accept me. Last year, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. "But one year in, I know everything now. It's going to be a breeze for me." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well he is willing to become a good father. I hope he lives up to it!
