According to Les Alexander on Fox.

Apparently it was already extended awhile back, before the Rockets got on a roll.

He deserves it. If you think about it, no GM does a better job of making good trades than CD. He's hardly ever on the wrong end of a deal. Clyde, Franchise, T-Mac, Barry, James etc. It's the free agent signings that he's had a spottier record on, (Cato, Mo, Moochie) but on the trade front nobody does better (That Rice for Amaechi deal was pretty weak but that was about Les not wanting to pay the luxury tax). And it seems like he's learning on those FA signings, with him not getting suckered into a fisher full mle deal.

Haha....amazing how the same people who wanted this guys head are now his #1 fans.

I guess the press and ESPN are not the only ones who change their minds on a team or person quickly.

Let's face it, results matter. And nobody has done a better job than CD with upgrading the roster during the season.

Agree 100%. Not only has he gotten Barry, James, and Wesley (a trade that i hated at first) but he has also gotten rid of Mo Taylor's contract and has given us a good chance to trade for another player sometime in the next year. Hopefully he keeps on making good decisions in the offseason (getting a good PF and picking a good draft pick).

    Dawson gets extension
Rockets general manager Carroll Dawson received a two-year contract extension with the Rockets on Wednesday. Talks with owner Leslie Alexander had been ongoing, but Dawson had asked to put off the details until after the trade deadline.

Dawson was also told that when he decides to retire, Alexander wants him to remain as a consultant.

"It was very flattering," said Dawson, who is in his 25th season with the Rockets and his ninth as the GM. "It was nice. I don't really enjoy things about me. But that was nice he wants me with the franchise for a long time. I love this franchise. I've been with it half my adult life."

Dawson's contract was set to expire in October. Terms of the extension were not released.

I was on the fire CD and fire Gundy bandwagon.

    I was wrong.

Seems CD and Gundy are working together better than Rudy and CD.

There are deals we make that baffle me (eg : Meech, Rice, Turksan, Moochie, Ward) and deals we don't make that surprise and disappoint me (no E. Griffin for Shard, no E. Grif for SAR, stuff like that) . I've come to think most of that goes to the coach, with CD mostly being the worker bee.

I'd still like Phil Jax better in both spots, but I have to give credit for the turnaround this year. Now that Gundy has eliminated the boneheaded, selfish, iso players, we can see the game he wanted. It's a good game. Good ball movement, heady play, team defense.
It does seem to rely on us getting a steady supply of smart vet talent that can handle the assignment, with enough gas in the tank to compete.

Gundy seems to appreciate having CD, so it makes sense to let them work together through the Gundy contract.
