If it happens T-Mac vs. Carter in our division will be fun to watch

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/story/211685p-182328c.html

    July 13
New York Daily News: "The trade rumors that have shadowed Thomas throughout his six seasons with the Knicks are hotter than ever. One scenario would have Thomas heading to Cleveland for center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. A more complicated deal would have Thomas as part of a four-team trade that would center around Vince Carter moving from Toronto to Dallas. The Knicks' side of the deal would include multiple players, with Thomas ending up in Dallas or Golden State and Shandon Anderson going to Toronto. The Knicks would be getting Antoine Walker from Dallas and Erick Dampier from Golden State."

Why doesn't the East just ship every star they have to the West along with the Pistons and the Pacers, and become a developmental league all together? Man, in almost every single move they make, they look stupid. In this offseason, they already lost McGrady, and will probably lose K-Mart, and now, Vince Carter? So Toronto will essentially trade Carter for Shanon Anderson?

LOL, so what is this? Toronto trades Vince Carter for Shandon Anderson? Who else are the Raptors getting back here?

I am calling BS on this! Vince Carter is NOT going to be traded from Toronto unless they can a STAR (that can put butts in seats) in return. Even guys going to other teams in that trade, Dampier, Walker, Thomas, Z, are not even on the level of Carter!

    This is assinine!

I don't see the by-line on this - is this Peter Vescey dreamcasting?

Wasn't he the first to dreamcast Tracy to Houston?

Are you saying Vescey deserves more credibility than we give him?

The NY Daily News is the organizational equivalent of Peter Vescey -- the whole sports section of that paper needs to be treated with skepticism.

To be fair, though, this would make NY a much better team. They trade Shandon Anderson and Kurt Thomas for Dampier and Walker - not likely.

This could be the wildest off-season ever.

    Well, the East is Champs.

    And the East got Shaq.

But - otherwise all the better free agents moved from East to West or stayed home. Sheed? I wouldn't trust him to be a choirboy for long.

And McGrady wanted to be here. Its not like Orlando gave him up voluntarily. It would have been stupid to wait to give him up for nothing.

It won't be Carter for Anderson, notice other teams are involved, and they only mentioned what New York would send to Toronto, not what Golden State or Dallas could send to them. I could see Jason Richardson moving to Toronto since the Warriors want Mikael Pietrus to start, or a combination of Jerry Stackhouse or Michael Finley and Josh Howard.

And none of that is enough for Carter. Richardson has potential as a 2 time dunk champion but I dont think he is established enough.

Stackhouse is totally done with a terrible contract. Finley is nice, but terrible contract. Howard is young but unproven. Richardson is cleary the best asset of all of those mentioned and I dont see him as enough to pry Carter.

If you put an infinite number of monkeys behind an infinite number of typewriters, one of them will type Shakespeare's Hamlet.

In other words, sooner or later, he was bound to make one up that actually happened.

Maybe so, but it's not just Shandon Anderson to Toronto as the article kind of suggests.

Toronto has Rose and Bosh. So, they need players at 1, 2-3 and 5. 1 and 5 are the sore spots. 5's are expensive.

They drafted this guy, (who looks like a stiff to me) :

    RAFAEL ARAUJO
    Position: Centre
    Height: 6-11
    Weight: 280
    College: Brigham Young
    Declared after: Senior Year
    Birthdate: August 8, 1980
    Birthplace: Sao Paulo, Brazil

    HIS GAME
Pros: Araujo has great strength. His upper body strength allows him to work on his opponents and he uses this to his advantage. He has some solid post moves including a baby hook shot. Is very strong on the boards. He is a very good rebounder and a very good passer. .

Cons:Despite his size he’s not the greatest of defenders. He isn’t known for his shotblocking so he will have to play better positional defence which may be hard because like most big men he isn't very quick.
    ------------------------------------

Bottom line - not ready for prime time, but backup help.

So raptors are - Rose - scorer, bad defender. Arajuo - bad defender. Bosh - very skinny (but pogo quick), Alvin Williams -bad wheels, or maybe no wheels.

Sounds like they need some beef and some defense, and a ball distributor. Warriors S&T Damp to Toronto? Shanderson won't get in the way of Rose jacking, I guess. Don't know how the ball gets up the court. Good luck, Milt Palacio.

Does anyone else question Thomas' concept of 'team'?
