Dole Pineapple Plantation Pearl Harbor The Punch Bowl There's this really windy spot that is awesome Some hike that we did Travel to the big island and watch the stars near the observatory -- it'll be the highlight of the trip I need to look up the names of this stuff, I'll try to post more later. We went to Hawaii a few years ago (fam + I). Best trip ever. My favorite was the big Island (Hawaii), with the rainforests and the volcanos and the stars. Just an unforgettable time.
That really windy place is Pali lookout. It's incredible there. Take a tour of Diamondhead. Check out North Shore, and while you are there, go get some shaved ice from Matsumoto. They also have the best shirts there.
My wife is from Kauai and she has relatives all over the islands, so every time we go, we always end up doing local stuff. Here's some stuff that pretty cool that we always end up doing...some touristy, some no-so-touristy... Go snorkling at Hanauma Bay Eat the duck at Patti's Chinese Kitchen at the Ala Moana Center (there's also some great HIC, Local Motion, Hawaiian surf gear shops) The International Market Place in Waikiki - sorta like a flea market, bargaining with merchants is encouraged The Bishop Museum in Honolulu - great for a Hawaiian history tour The Polynesian Cultural Center - great place for history and cultural aspects of Hawaii and the Polynesian islands If you've never surfed...take lessons in Waikiki. The waves are great for beginners. Go visit all of the aunties, uncles, nanas and tatas! Definitely check out a luau. Most of the major hotels have them. The kalua pig is awesome. Eat breakfast at McDonalds...the Portugese sausage, eggs, and rice is also awesome! Try to island hop. The Big Island is nice. Maui is incredible...if you go, make sure to snorkel at Molokini. Kauai is my favorite. The canyons, rainforests, cliffs, and secluded beaches are by far the most beautiful...plus Duane's Ono Charburger has the best burgers! Princeville also has a sweet golf course.
that's not all bad...champagne at home with my wife after the kids go to sleep sounds fine to me. "turns out not where, but who you're with that really matters." -- the prophet dave matthews
