The early bird gets the worm, and saves a lot of money so my buddies and I are getting ready for New Years this year and are deciding on where to go. Watching Brooke Burke on Wild On E! has only increased my desire to go some where exotic.

Over the last few years we've gone to Acapulco, Vegas, NYC, Madrid and last year they went to Cuba via Cancun Mexico. I, unfortunately did not partake in the Havana trip, after 9/11 and with my Muslim background and the fact that its illegal, I didn't want to get sent to Camp X-Ray!

The Options We have Now Are as Following:

Buenos Aires, Argentina - With the economic problems my purchasing power quadrupled, and I'm fluent in spanish with a perfect accent and its the home of very hot women! Its not on the beach though.

Rio De Janiero, Brazil - On the beach and incredible party city. Would cost more and I don't speak portugese.

Cartagena, Colombia - I would have never thought of this but a Colombian girl that i'm very good friends with suggested it, saying it was beautiful and a blast. And that the girls loved guys like me! That was nice!! But ending up kidnapped or caught in the middle of a drug bust or a mudslide ala Romancing the Stone isn't my idea of exotic.

Ibiza, Spain - I've never been to Ibiza, but Spain is amazing. Wild on E! sold me on this location, but we'll see. Much more international, will meet people from all over the world with a common goal : partying.

Now sights, beaches, quiet evenings are not the criteria; its more like wild fun places with different and attractive people who know how to party yet are still sophisticated. i.e. I don't consider Mardi Gras a party, its dirty and full of fights and filth.

    Suggestions my loyal, esteemed bbs'ers?

Ibiza, Spain seems to be the most happening place. Its party central and the women are on fire.

Im going to Vegas this year, although I have heard that its not that great during New Years.

I've spent 2 of the past 3 New Year's in Vegas. It has its ups and downs. It's too crowded, the party on New Year's Eve will run you upwards of $150 a ticket if you hit a night club, and flights and hotels are expensive. Other than the price, it is great. Lots of sports gambling going on with the college football bowl season and NBA games, lots of huge bets being placed at the tables on New Year's Eve, and usually quite a few entertainers are there for shows. Last year we flew in on New Year's Eve and stayed through the 4th -- that way he only paid for one expensive night at the hotel (they get cheap after new year's eve).

In terms of exotic destinations....I like the Colombia idea -- seems like the women would be insanely hot (I'm thinking shakira.... sofia vergara....). I wonder if Club Hedonism or some of those Club Med singles islands would have something fun for New Year's. I've had friends go to Club Med before and say that it was the wildest week of their life.

Ibiza did sound like the most appealing choice, yet i'm not sure everyone out of our group of 8 people wishes to spend five thousand because thats what it would cost.

The Sofia Vergara/Shakira references only support the idea of South America and more specifically Cartagena. But safety is a big concern, though most of my friends are from Mexico or are international and are knowledgable about the do's and dont's of 3rd world travel.
    That and Buenos Aires/ Cartagena/ Rio would all run about 2 - 3 g's instead of 5.

I'd probably go with Ibiza just for the safety factor. The US State Department has a standing warning against US citizens traveling to Colombia. They also have a temporary warning against traveling to Argentina -- seems that once the financial crisis hit some less scrupulous Argentinians found they could make money by kidnapping foreign tourists. Margherita Island. Closer and the women are hot. And it will be very similar to Ibiza.

I just booked a cabin in the cascade mountains. There's going to be a little Aussie family reunion involving skiing on New Years.

    I'm excited!

I was going save up for a flat screen or anything from the Enron auction. I even put the $500 temp charge on my credit card to do the web auction next week.

Then I found this, not really even looking for it, but stumbling across it.

I'm gonna be a little late for the New Year's party, but oh well.

Also on Ibiza, I heard it is very expensive, like more than $10 per drink, but I could be wrong.

Have fun planning your trip FDKhan.

Went to Ibiza. Freaking great. Totally expensive, even the hostels. It wasn't all like Wild-On E, but pretty hedonistic nevertheless. They had Sasha and Digweed doing some concert there and it was a madhouse.

I've heard that Prague, while overrun by tourists, has a pretty cool New Years.

Have you considered Trinidad or Tobago? I think the natural beauty and party atmosphere are excellent. I haven't been, though. I just have some friends from there. Plus, I believe it's comparably affordable.

hehe, that is what it costs in NY anyways. actually usually $12 if you are looking for the kind of crowds Kahn wants.

No real suggestion for ya kahn, but I have been going to wintery places and usually making it a mountain snowboarding partyfest. the whole summer is filled with those people you see on wild on. I know it sounds crazy, but living out here it is kind of tiresum dealing with the hamptons/meddeteranian/jetset. the ski trip is a kick arse change, but then you have the aspen crowd. cant really win, but I guess hot women are sought after world wide

Tora Bora, Afghanistan will have them some fireworks!!

No really, you should consider Rio. There is no comparable venue for to party. The Brazilian Real has already devalued somewhat and if you can understand any Spanish you will find Portugese very similar. This site may help you decide:
