Well, we decided not to hit New Orleans to ring in the new year. We've decided that we want to spend the time alone together at home after a nice dinner. Since this will be my first New Year's Eve in Houston since 1994, I'm not sure where to go for dinner. What are some suggestions. Price really isn't an issue, but include the price range in your responses, por favor.

    Merry Christmas everyone!!

By the way, I've heard good things about La Strada on New Year's Eve night and the dinner / show they put on.

    You can't beat Vic & Anthony's.

Get an early dinner, and since you are already downtown, get tickets for a party down there. Or you can walk around and take in the madness. Downtown Houston is a must be for NYE.

If you and the lady LOVE meat this is the way to go. Can't be beat

Otherwise Mark's on Westhimer is tops in my book. I've never had a bad meal there.

Dinner for 2, nice bottle of wine, desert and coffee: $100-175 depending on drinks/wine, less without booze but who enjoys a fine meal withoout a drink?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I'm flying back to the US on the 30th and will celebrate the New Year in Dallas with a bunch of friends. Then the next day is our bowl game. Should be a good time.

Yes, that's a good date place. It usually runs about $100 for two people including a generous amount of booze.

I think I may be taking my fellow Katy alumnus' advice. That's about a 30 second drive from our house.

For a new year you won't forget, go to Rainbow Lodge. If you've ever been, this would be a no-brainer.

Mark's has good food, but the place is lacking in ambience.

The killer part of this place is its location. You're in the middle of the city, and then BAM!

Marks is better than Rainbow, except Rainbow has better game.
If money isnt an issue, Aldo's is amazing.

    I would have to agree.

In fact, I've heard there is a really good band playing there New Years Eve. With an amazing drummer...

    Some excellent suggestions in here:

I think me and the wifey will be going to Fogo with a few friends.

Marks is an excellent choice. I will have to disagree with Fatty about Marks not having an "ambience". The place has awesome food and looks gorgeous as well.

Rainbow Lodge is the same thing as Marks. Just a little cheaper.

Mateo is right about Aldos though. If money is not an issue then Nothing can beat Aldos Con Amore for the overrall effect. Excellent food and perhaps the single most romantic restaurant in Houston.
