Any wood floor veterans here? So I finally just broke down and rented the sander and edger and buffer and all that crap and re-finished my wood floors this Thanksgiving weekend. The hardest part of refinishing your wood floors is the first pass of medium grit sanding (or if you're really unlucky your floors are so built up with crud you need to start with heavy sandpaper, eeesh!). This I found to also be the most crucial part, the first pass of hard sanding. The fine grit feels good and smooth and it only touches up stuff in terms of smootheness. The machines are amazing crazy inventions. Use that edger to get those spots in uneven planks, its back breaking work for a while. Use a mask when you paint the polyeurothane on (I did). Get a shop-vac for better sand dust cleanup (I didn't). Enjoy your new wood floors.
