In the last fifteen minutes, I've gotten three emails from different people (whom I don't recognize) with the subject line "your details" and an attachment. My Norton has picked this up. Must be something new. Watch out. Damn terrorists!
Yeah I posted something about it in that other Blaster virus thread, check it out... I'll add it here also There is a new virus getting loose. http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_SOBIG.F
Sorry, I'd already been hit by the Blaster so I didn't go anywhere near that thread... I've now gotten about 10 infected emails.
My hotmail account keeps getting these e-mail saying virus alert and mail no delivered that fill up my junk mail space within an hour or two. Where is a virus being detected? I have deeted all e-mails out of my account and signed on from four different computers. Where's the virus because I have a feeling I'm not getting my important mail.
The whole "SoBig" virus as it's called actually sends you fake "could not send" emails and "MAILER : DAEMON" emails... as well as the "details," etc. Look out!
R2K posted some good information about this virus in another thread. Here are the details: http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=description&virus_k=100561 And here is the fix: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sobig.f@mm.removal.tool.html My wife had this virus on her laptop and this fix took care of it.
This happened to me, but I just downloaded the latest automatic Windows updates, and those apparently took care of it.
I received more than 100 of them in just over 24 hours this week. Fortunately, Mac's don't get Win viruses. This last week was called the worst attack of an internet virus ever.
I guess there is a new one that came out this week...I wouldnt know for sure...I havent seen one in my inbox. thanks to Earthlink's filters and my firewall...
So how/when do I get my e-mail to stop receiving all these damn e-mails with these very large attachments that are clogging it causing me to miss e-mails that I need to receive?
