This interview took place Thursday (5/24) and touches on a variety of subjects. http://www.click2houston.com/video/13392897/index.html Enjoy.
mostly a rehash of things already said except you get to hear adelman make some unpleasant noises, a dry throat/cough perhaps?
Thanks Hilltopper! He sounds a little tired already. Talking how changing to a new system may take time. And will depend how quickly the players buy into his philosophy. He may even be a bit overwhelmed with everything happening so fast and coming to the realization after a year hiatus that coaching is not an easy job. Not to say he isn't up for the task on the contrary he is very ready but still there is a long road ahead and he will have his hands full.
yea, it's going to be tough b/c he has to reset all the players' mindsets of how they were under JVG. JVG basically has them pretty narrow-minded on just defense and rebound every second of the game. adelman is gonna emphasize more offense for them and other players will have to adjust. and bonzi has to come back. it's the best situation for him w/ adelman.
Hmmm so Adelman also went through a period where his team didn't get out of the first round for four straight years...
No. Adelman phrased the comment incorrectly. He has never gone out in 4 consecutive 1st rounds...two consecutive is the max. He had some really bad initial Kings' teams that didn't make the playoffs at all backed by two playoff seasons starting with Peja's rookie season where they went out two seasons in a row with the following rotation... 1998-99 -> 27 - 23 Chris Webber Vlade Divac Corliss Williamson Jason Williams Vernon Maxwell Tariq Abdul-wahad Lawrence Funderburke Rookie season for Peja 1999-00 -> 44 - 38 Chris Webber Vlade Divac Jason Williams Peja Stojakovic (Yr 2) Nick Anderson Corliss Williamson Jon Barry Tony Delk Lawrence Funderburke After this, they went on a run.
Adelman said if Bonzi comes back, he would expect him to be in shape and have a positive attitude. That seems like a familiar sentiment somehow.
I tried to watch, but Adelman's not a particularly interesting interview, and there was a link to the CNN interview of Milka Duno right beside it.
