what do you expect in the Rox's new unis? do you think it will end people saying that the Houston Rockets donned the most ugliest uniforms (from the unis they used when they moved from san diego, to the red and yellow championship jersey, to the jersey they are wearin right now which is the most hideous thing i ever saw a person could wear) since they entered the league. i expect the new unis to be like a fresh or slighty edited and modified look of the championship jerseys. same color scheme (red/yellow/white). then they would do a third alternative away jersey that has the red/blue scheme. i love the old chamionship unis though.. i dunno why some peeps hate it. its simple yet good lookin.. its a combination of fresh/classic, simple/trendsetting.
1) the old gold and red unis are classics, and the only improvement I can think of would be toning down the mustard to a duller more rich gold color. 2) the current uniforms aren't the ugliest ever, by a long shot. The only thing that bothers me about the current unis is the logo in the center.. it seems out of place and very awkwardly shaped.. other than that I think the unis are pretty good looking.. change that logo and it's sweet 3) the new unis we know will be crimson (deep crimson) and silver/pewter.. I think it will be hard to screw that up.. but I'm not holding my breath..
Hmmm...I just hope this Big R on the chest thing is just a rumor. I think their going to unveil them around the middle of June or beg. of July.
Word. I don't see how a Big R or H could look good.. even if the lady from the Cell or whatever is designing it

Are you saying our logo will be a big R or that is just whats going to be added on the front of the jersey? I was kinda expecting something more than a "big R" for our new logo. Man that will be lame if that is the case...
I hope the new uni's are kind of old school throw back. but I have a wierd feeling that they're going to be all futuristic and crappy. I bet we'll be complaining for another 6 or 7 years. Have you seen the other uni's this guy's designed?
First off, its a girl who designed them. She is top notch fashion designer Eiko Ishioka and she has never designed sports uni's before. She did do the costumes for the movie "The Cell" though. But word out of the folks at NBA Properities is that the six proposed design templates they have for the uni's are all so cool looking, the Rockets and the league are having a hard time choosing which one to go with......................one official described it as an instant trend setter which would be hard to keep other teams from copying......................sounds interesting to me.
i love the red...but what i've heard of the big R across the front with the team name toward the bottom of the jersey makes me sick to my stomach. if that's the case...i'm not sure that's an improvement at all. futuristic blows.
At first, I was against a single letter in front, but I've kind of warmed up to the idea. Just as long as the R isn't too big and not too tacky and cartoonish looking like the Superman S. A simple looking letter like the Miami Hurricanes U would be great. Seems like everybody that has seen the jersey's has loved them, the player's, management, the NBA. I can't wait to see them.
if steve said he likes them, isn't that enough? as long as we keep the players happy they won't leave when they become FA's.
when you think futuristic, you're thinking stupid space age crap. but futuristic is a term designers use to describe, something really smooth, stylish, and slick looking. i'm actually willing to bet money that if they use the new designs, it'll look better than what we currently have, which doesn't look like it was done by a real designer. by the way, i don't think its gonna be some big r in the front or whatever cause that would look r****ded.
Seriously, the Hurricanes uni's are sweet. I really like that U on the front. Tigereye - I like what I'm hearing, but it still sounds a lot like last time...
You have to wonder why the Rockets don't seek the input of the fans on this (present several schemes and seek fan feedback and/or input). I mean, isn't it important what we think? Aren't we the ones that buy the highest percentage of their merchandise?
She did design a sports uniform before -- she did the body suits for some Canadian Olympic skaters. Their uniforms look pretty nice, really. I think it is excessively pessimistic to fear these new uniforms for one reason: several to many of the Rockets players who have seen the uniforms have endorsed them. If she managed to satisfy the tastes of the players, it'll probably work for the fans as well.
Jaun, good call there. That's one of the reasons why I have a lot of faith in the new uniforms is that the players themselves have been quoted as saying that they like them. I don't think that was the case with the Pinstripte uniforms when they were introduced. Remember how Kenny Smith was very careful in what he said about them at the time. They obviously did not like them. But all the reports I have read from the players or tigereye's reports sound VERY positive. I like the color scheme of Silver and Blood Red. I will hold out on any judgements until we see them but I am optomistic.
news tidbit of the day.... from what i heard (and it probably doesnt mean much)... the new uni's wont be unveiled until the Grand Opening of the New Arena. ...so dont hold your breath.
