Sorry about the thread rehash, but these deals always seem to be changing and this board is in the know.

Looking for a cheap 37 inch or so flat panel tv. Doesn't need to have all the bells and whistles, or even be the top brand, just needs to work, look decent enough, be flat, and be CHEAP!

Where do I find these deals?

    Thanks in advance.

    $599 at fry's, the 437 model Olevia

No HDTV tuner, which means you have no coaxial cable input so you have to use a VCR or DVD player inbetween it to watch cable tv, and you can't pick up HDTV signals over the air, but works just like any other tv and is 720p HD otherwise.

37 or so. Can be a little smaller, a little larger. I wasn't planning on wall-mounting, only because I thought that added price. It would look good wall mounted.

It's for my master bedroom. I watch some tv in there at night and all, but not a lot, just need to free up some space. I have a tv from 2000 or so in there, and I'm perfectly content with the picture (even though it sucks in comparison to new stuff), it's just too bulky.

newegg, tigerdirect and onecall are all good for internet dealers.

did you want to watch hd content? cable/satellite, or just antenna?

I have had good experiences with www.buydig.com

Looks like you can get one in the 600-700 range.

HD isn't necessary. I use TW now, no HD in the master.

What do you think of refurbished? If I wait a few weeks to a month is a "deal" likely to pop up somewhere?

refurb is fine, based on brand. sony refurbs are great.
you may want to consider a 480p tv if you dont care about hd in your master.
what about a smaller tv like a 20 or 27?

I'll probably settle in at 32....the 37's still too expensive, and would prefer to be a littel bigger than 27, unless a great deal....20 is out of the question.

    who is selling 480p only?

what do you think of this deal?

you can find 480p tvs for cheap.

that deal is good, but check this one out on newegg:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16889114021

granted its a no name brand, but it got user reviews plus it has a $100 rebate,$299 after rebate

Re-hashing this from a couple of weeks ago. Been keeping an eye on the deals.

    Calling tinman and DD.

Found this deal. Looks like the Westinghouse LTV-32W1. 32 inch flat panel, 480p/720p...maybe 1080i, $429 plus shipping.

Thoughts? Any problems with ecost before?

Very good buy, but it is only 720p which is good enough for broadast HD TV, but not for Blue Ray or HD-DVD nor 1080p quality.

    It depends on your needs.

I can't tell...CNET says this model is 1080i, too. This is just for my bedroom. I have a 55 inch Sony rear-projection 1080p in my television room - that is a freaking amazing set.

BTW, anyone who has an HDTV of this size/quality and isn't watching/recording Planet Earth is missing one of the most spectacular, if not the most spectacular, HD program ever.

never bought from ecost, but Westinghouse is the of the 'no name' lcd hdtvs.
its an lcd, so its 720p (when they say 1080i, it converts it to 720p)

    I see.

I combined the low price nature of Westinghouse as a "no name" brand, combined with the fact that it is probably the best known of the "no name" brands and generally has significantly fewer Cons on their reviews than all the other companies in the category, and DD's high praise (I know, I know, he also thinks Boki is the greatest SF in the history of the NBA, but still, he clearly knows a thing or two about electronics/related industries), and went ahead and purchased.

$502 all-in, should arrive in 2 days. Even with some of the crazy promotional coupons out there, I couldn't find a cheaper 32 inch LCD of this quality, including shipping.
