I don't know when it started, but NBC seems to have exclusive rights to NBA games. League Pass is not allowed to show anything during NBC games anymore. Last week, I missed the Indiana-Toronto game for this reason. Today, I missed out on Indiana-Washington because NBC was broadcasting Orlando-Philadelphia. Is that how the new TV deal with TNT is going to work next year? Will League Pass be blacked out on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays? That's a lot of Rockets basketball that out-of-town fans will be missing out on, and it seems that the NBA would be ruining League Pass by giving Turner exclusive rights. No longer would we get "40 games a week", because we'd be forced to watch whatever was on Turner. Is that how it's going to work next year? Tell me I'm wrong! PLEASE!
I don't understand your question... LP doesn't show the TNT/TBS games anyway. Also, the problem with NBC was that they had too many regional games, that are blacked out. TNT/TBS (do they even still have rights?) shows national games only anyway.
Obviously the TNT games wouldn't be shown on League Pass, but I'm wondering if ANY games will be shown during TNT games. League Pass is not able to broadcast any games during NBC telecasts, will it be the same with Turner?
well i'm pretty sure that tnt only gets a double header on thursday next year so no tuesday/wednesday games to worry about. other than that, i have no idea how the blackout stuff works, but i'm getting league pass next year so it better not be too many games.
zrb-Some of the Sunday games not shown are regional coverage games for NBC, if I'm not mistaken. Also, sometimes Sunday afternoon games are the ones that are untelevised anywhere. Some smaller local stations, might not want to compete against NBC.
First of all, TNT is only showing games on Thursday next year because ESPN, AOL Network, ABC Sports, etc..are going to be the carriers. And I think you are wrong, league pass will not be blacked out just so our only option is to see the national tv game. I read that in the chron.
Here's an example: Spurs at Rockets, This Year: Home TV: FSN Road TV: KRRT National TV: TNT Currently only NBC has exclusive broadcast rights. Meaning today's Indiana Washington game was televised only by NBC. In the situation above fans have the option of watching either TNT or their local broadcast. Next Year: National TV Only: TNT Other games will be on League Pass at the same time, however for those without League Pass living in Houston and San Antonio (example) will be forced to watch on TNT instead of having a local broadcast. Only Turner and I believe ABC will have exclusive rights next year.
response to smokey I know Mack Brown and so I gave him a call. He said enjoy your season with a sh--y team. He also said OU sucks and to watch the OU-Texas game this coming year. They'll be in a long line of wins leading to our national championship. Hook'em!
It'll always be next year with that b*stard. We've handed them their asses the last couple years and we're ready to do it again. Bring it.
