My brother and sister and law just moved to the Houston area, Spring to be exact. My wife and I are making the same move at the end of the year when my job grants me a transfer. Since we are new to the area, we are looking for cool things to do. We are all mid twenties are pretty active for the most part. Any suggestions?

Check out Greenspoint if you are active. It does wonders for your running times.

Never been to Spring, TX. I think they have a redneck crawfish festival once a year.

Well don't move to Spring if you're mid twenties and active. Move to midtown or heights area.

When it warms up enough, drive to the Highland Lakes on weekends. That's in the Hill Country, not far from a city that will remain nameless (I took an oath).

Don't go out of the loop. You'll run across crazies like @SwoLy-D everywhere

    Stay inside the loop. Period.

    Inside the loop= $$$

Just outside the loop= significantly cheaper

Heights and midtown is where it's poppin.

All the mexican food you can eat.

Shipley's do nuts... But specifically the one on North Main in the heights.

Depends on your preference. I've been enjoying the downtown bar scene these days.

Spring is going to be gentrified soon. Buy land now before the millennials and other hispter youth arrive and bid up property.

You'll be living out in the burbs and really will have no reason to go to Houston unless you're attending a sporting event or visiting the zoo. A lot of people do that and are completely fine with it. Spring isn't the nicest suburb, but if you're on the north side of Spring, then you'd be close to the Woodlands, which is where your family could be spending many weekends and nights shopping and eating out.

Spring is beautiful. I love the smell of freshly laid strip mall parking lot concrete...reminds me of summer...

Do you have kids? If not then Heights or Montrose area. Maybe Eado or Midtown.

The difference between being in or near the loop and outside in the burbs is night and day. My aunt has a 4000 sf house in Cypress but they spend all their time in a 2 bed 2 bath condo near Reliant. Just a different life.

As someone who was born and raised in Spring.....DO NOT MOVE TO SPRING. You'll be surrounded by strip malls and overweight white women with ankle tattoos. Get an apartment or rent a house in Montrose or the Heights.....enjoy your 20s!

just don't get addicted to the 'drank'. It ruins lives, one day you're the no.1 pick, the next you're just fat and puffy.
