So, I am deciding to take another job and move on from my parents company. I have taken a new job in the expanding market of Dallas. As much as I hate their sports teams, the cities surrounding Dallas are pretty nice from what I've visited (Irving-Las Colinas, Addison, North Park area). Selling my home, selling my car, downsizing, all for a fresh start. The architecture there is very aesthetically appealing, and there is less humidity so that'll be nice I guess, but lack of Texans and Rockets on TV everywhere will suck. Hoping to get a slingbox or something and sling from my brother or parents. Anyway, was hoping to see if any clutchfans brehs lived in the area (I'll be in Las Colinas) and would make the move a little less sucky. The moving to hell jokes may commence
Well hey at least you're closer to the best team in Oklahoma (OKC, not OKD). You won't have blackout restrictions so if you're planning on getting cable, just get league pass add-on.
I've spent a lot of time in Dallas. The winter in Dallas is much worse than Houston....ice is a b!tch. Summer is slightly better but still a beating, and you have to deal with tornados which are worse than hurricanes because they are unpredictable. I'd recommend eating at the new McDonalds in Las Colinas. Excellent drywall.
Just don't bring clocks or battery packs to schools. They don't like that kind of trouble making there.
Get satellite service, activate in Houston and install in Dallas. You will now have all your channels as you would in Houston.
i do like the nightlife in dallas more than houston; particularly uptown. does that make me a douche bag?
Good luck. I lived in Arlington for a year. It would have been just fine if not for the Cowboys fans. They are worse than you can imagine.
I just moved to Fort Worth about 4 months ago and I've for the most part stayed out of Dallas. I prefer FW way more personally from what I have seen and experienced, but there are some good suburbs to live in north of dallas. Good luck with your move
Good luck up in Dallas, LCAhmed, and I hope the new opportunity works out for you!! There is a good group of Houston fans up here, hope you will be able to meet up with the crew for games (hopefully, starting with the Texans Wild Card game!). I've spent the better (worse?) part of 17 years up in the Metroplex, and you will have to try and ignore/tolerate the fans/people up here. There's still a ton of new construction coming up in Las Colinas (homes, primarily), but there are some townhome/condo communities. MacArthur gets backed up pretty good during morning/lunch/evening commute for work, and I think the majority of the construction in and around 114 is complete, so you'll benefit from that. If you go out, you'll probably end up spending a lot of time either in Uptown or Addison depending on your preference. Both will require a little bit of a drive (15-20 minutes) , so party safe!
