I've always complained that there weren't enough social media sites and that Zuck didn't have enough market share. I'm excited to see that both issues are being addressed.
Do you kind of like Twitter, but you wish Zuck had total control over what you were allowed to say and read AND not be able to interact with anyone in the EU? Threads is what you are looking for! Seriously, all of the half ass Twitter knockoffs get a bunch of buzz at the start, but then fade away.
@Clutch just needs upgrade this site. Add a dating page, gambling site, multplayer zombie game. Work it out with game developer @DD
Clutch’s first thread was a picture of Hakeem with “Deserves its own Threads” so, of course, per @Os Trigonum meme rules, I replied: “ *it* deserves its own thread, idiot” And was not allowed to post that reply until clicking “post anyways” to the warning, “this thread resembles others that have been reported” none of you bastids better report me!
Unless the 25% of users who write 97% of all tweets migrate over to Threads this may become another Google+.
So, I don’t see any way to control my TL. I assumed only those who I follow would show, like IG and FB, and Twitter. But, so far, my TL has a bunch of stuff that I didn’t select. I guess so it looks busy “on there”.
Would be interested in seeing the category of tweets from those 25%.. a crapton of fintwits out there.... sports.. NSFW..
Twitter is basically a junkyard of information now. I decided to check out Threads yesterday right before they went public and a bit after, and without a "Following" option, all I got was a bunch of randos I couldn't care less about yapping about nothing. lol. I'll wait for the Following feature which is supposedly pretty high on the list. Hopefully it takes off. One warning - if you delete your Threads account, you will also have to delete your IG account.
Has anyone tried viewing through mastadon? Seems they're connected https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2023/07/what-to-know-about-threads/
