not sure what it means, but it's still interesting. perhaps regular users of the internet are able to more easily find spin-free news than those who rely on Time, Newsweek, and CNN? http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Presidential_Tracking_Poll.htm -- Forty-eight percent (48%) of Americans say that Bush is a better leader than Kerry while 33% take the opposite view. Among those who use the Internet on a regular basis (several times a week or more), 50% say they will vote for Bush while 42% pick Kerry. Among those who are not on-line regularly, Kerry is favored 48% to 44%.
I have problems believing that, most internet users are educated (i mean, only an uneducated person would believe that father-daughter thread). Besides, in the D&D forum, any thread that starts with basso means the opposite of the article is probably true.
i've read studies that indicate the higher the level of education the more likely the person is to vote Republican. can anyone confirm or deny that??
It seems improbable. I haven't, that I recall, seen any studies about party affiliation, but I have seen several studies which show a distinct correlation between higher education and leaning towards the left, or liberal side of the political range. It seems unlikely that an increasingly left leaning group would be more likely to vote Republican. The higher your education level, in general, the more your group is prone to being liberal. I do not offer this as a means of showing how liberalism is the correct way of thinking and education reveals same, as I for one wouldn;t wholeheartedly agree, but the numbers are fairly consistent. There are other explanations, but the opposite standard response, ie that academics lean to the left because universities are socialist factories is equally untrue. I have, however, seen several studies which show that the wealthier a person is, the more likely he/she is to be a Republican.
well, the most wealthy are usually republican, and the most wealthy usually have a high level of education, but that does not mean that the most educated are republican. I believe that most PhDs between 30-45 lean left, but i need to find that stat.
We internet users are more likely to be the privlidged types who can fiddle-fart the day away rather than the masses who have to actually do something to make their minimum wage.
As for the findings of this study, if accurate, combine the last two posts ( GP and AF) and I think you've got your reasons.
Whether you contribute or not (so that you could edit) is your choice, but please, at least take a cursory glance over what you typed. Thanks.
Uh-huh. While I commit more than my share of typos, you will find, if you choose, that I routinely make an intentional one when pointing out a previous error. Of course, you would know better. Only an arrogant ass would assume to know what was going on in his own mind more than another poster...
i didn't mean to insinuate that the smarter you are the more likely you'll vote republican. and i certainly don't equate education as a necessary precursor to true wisdom. the way i've read it is that higher education typically leads to higher incomes...which typically leads to conservative voters.
By the way, with regards to the thread title...the trend seems to be going towards clean-shaven, and who am I to go against the trend!
