If I was him I would worry less about advertising every step of my rehab and more about it translating into on court performance. When you get paid $20 million a year, certain things are expected, and this just comes off as another tacky move to me.
His Tmac image is obviously important to him... This could also go in one of the HUNDREDS of Tmac posts. DD
This probably is the hardest he's ever worked in his career, he tends to think he's so gifted that hard work is not required. But I have to give him this, he seems to want to prove his naysayers wrong. Personally I'll take the odds that he won't ever get out of the 1st round, if he does it'll seem like he conquered Mt. Everest.
I'm going to lay off of T-Mac for this whole ad campaign thing. Sure, it helps his image; but the primary goal of this thing is TO SELL ADIDAS PRODUCTS. The fact is that this is turning into what will likely be an effective marketing campaign for Adidas, showing a previously crippled player molded into a revitalized physical specimen, all the while wearing Adidas gear. It's not like T-Mac hired a photographer and videographer to follow him. Adidas is paying for all of this, and it will likely make a lot of money through this campaign. Sure, T-Mac has his faults and deserves some criticism for them. But this is purely business. I won't fault him for that at all.
Of course it is....I just think that he cares more about his TMac image than he does about winning basketball games. Just my opinion though. DD
Please, you're acting like there's a written clause in TMac's contract that is forcing him to be an innocent participant in all of this. I've always supported TMac for his on court play but this is a prime example of his weak mentality... he NEEDS people to know that he's putting in all this work and grunting when he does squats as a cop out in case things don't work out for him (which unfortunately has been the story of his career). After last year's fiasco he desperately needs some kind of security net... he's never had a put up or shut up attitude, this goes hand in hand with the amount of slack he gives himself when he talks with the media about his shortcomings. Your logic is faulty as well, why wouldn't you fault him and his sponsor for capitalizing on something that hasn't shown any proven results? I'll gladly eat my words if I'm wrong, but we're still 8 months away from that.
Thanks for those pictures, he has really been working hard and hopefully it will pay off. His body looks fit and ready for the season. The only thing I am worried about is his quickness. I just hope he is doing some exercises to improve it, because last season he barely ran. Of course, once you get your knee fixed your quickness will improve, there is no questions, but I just hope to see him running with no problems and getting that 1st quick step back. But he is under Groover. We can call that guy the best in the world so I guess he knows what he is doing. Just look at Wade. He does care about winning, I am sure about that. But, after a horrible season last year, rebuilding his image as an all star in the NBA will be the main thing for him, IMO. And that's damn pretty normal. That means he will try to do his best on the court and usually when he plays well, the team does well.
I don't see the big deal. There are obviously many Rockets fans out there who are interested in McGrady's progress. Adidas wants to sell its products. And McGrady wants his fans to know that he isn't just slacking off. Looks like a win-win-win. If you're not interested in what McGrady is doing this offseason, you don't need to read these threads.
Actually that is not normal, did D-Wade do this? The normal thing would be to put in the work, and show it on the floor, his image is meaningless until he gets it done on the NBA court. All of this is just fluff. I agree that it is pure marketing, it just seems a bit much. But, I side with PT Barnum on this issue...... "There is a sucker born every minute" DD
All I'm saying is these Rockets fans are going to be the first to turn on McGrady when his "training regimen" doesn't instantly correlate into winning or being something close to his 04-05 self. And in return he'll always have this hype to fall back on when he can't past a road bump... "you guys saw how hard I grunted on my squats for $20 million a year, you can't blame me for this one." No one would be blaming anyone if he didn't dig these holes for himself mentally. Look at the way Wade handled coming back from his injury.
