The Nets are offering a trade exception and a second-round pick for the Hornets swingman, and New Orleans is demanding a first-round pick. ... ALSO: For whole article: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/271469p-232487c.html If the Nets can convince the Hornets to strike a deal - which could happen soon, according to a source - Kidd and Jackson will be reunited. The Nets have offered part of their $5 million exception and a second-round pick for the disgruntled scorer. Kidd says he has no problem with passing to Jackson again.
LOL, 1st rounder for JJ? Not a chance. Part of the T.E. and a 2nd rounder is about what he is worth these days if the Hornets dont want to take on a salary.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1968071 Jim Jackson said he was never consulted before the Houston Rockets traded him to the New Orleans Hornets last month and added he has no intention of joining the New Orleans squad. The Toledo native and former Ohio State standout told The Blade of Toledo, Ohio that he is not interested in moving to New Orleans, which would be his eleventh NBA team in 13 seasons. Jackson said he was surprised and disappointed by the news of his trade and he isn't interested in starting over. Jackson was suspended by New Orleans for failing to report following the Dec. 27th trade. He has lost $220,000, or $27,500 per game, for the eight games he has missed. Jackson is scheduled to earn $2.4 million this season. Jackson said he hopes to be playing for another team soon, although he would not discuss specifics.
agree not like a team has the ability to stop paying a player JJ you didn't need to be consulted when you are on guarenteed money
disagree i think it would be human decency that you would at least tell someone they are getting traded. they don't need to ask permission or anything, the player shouldnt have a say in it or anything, but at least tell them.
You are right. It would be human decency to tell someone what is going on. But we see people getting traded all of the time that I would bet they never saw it coming. Heck, didn't francis find out through non-Rockets affiliates that he was being traded, and then he held up the trade saying he wasn't going to play for orlando? Unless the NBA implements things as "No trade"clauses like they have in Baseball (Unless they do and I am wrong), where the team has to get the players permission to trade them, then I do not see teams approaching too many player when a trade is happening. Then on the flip look at what Carlos Boozer did to the Cavs. He told them he would sign with them for X amount of money if they do not pick up their team option making him a free agent. Then once his free agent status was available he jumped ship and went to the highest bidder. My point is, if people can get away with it, they are going to do it. Now that doesn't make it right, but it happens.
Right. I'm sure if the Rockets told JJ, he and his agent would have stalled the deal while they looked for a third team to join so he wouldn't have to go play in New Orleans.
I don't really think that JJ is thinking in grand philosophical terms. I think if he were still on the Rockets, for instance, and it had been a Boki/Wesley trade, I somehow don't imagine that you'd see him picketting the Toyota Center with Cesar Chavez and the United Basketball Workers of America, claming that Rocket's management was treating it's workers unfairly. I think it's more just one of those illogical things that people say when they're upset that don't make any real sense, but rather are a way to vent frustration and imagine that their current discontent could have been avoided. If JVG went to JJ a month before the trade to let him know they were shopping him, he would not have been any less unhappy, but instead would have sulked because he was being shopped.
Yeah, but then you risk having the trade fall apart when the guy comes out in public to state that he doesn't want to go to team "X".
exactly..and then you're left with a player that doesn't feel wanted and you're left without the player you wanted to acquire.
