This weekend, I get my new/old car -- 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. It's in GORGEOUS condition, 70K miles, perfect interior and everything. It was my Grandfather's, but he doesn't want it any more, so I'm buying it off of him for 500 bucks. I haven't bought from anywhere but a dealer before -- what do I do? What am I going to need to get? I'll be driving it back from Oklahoma this Tuesday, and it'll be sans insurance or inspection in TX . . . what do I do for title, etc? Thanks!
Oh, and I can't get insurance until the insurance agency sees the car . . . I dunno why, that's just what they said (State Farm).
I had a 77 Cutlass Supreme too, it had T-Tops and was a sweet car with a bench seat in the front and back...handy for dating I might add. It is really simple to add a stereo, and there is plenty of room to hide the wires, the floorboards under your doors are easily removed by 3 simple screws, and the Stereo is also easily replaced. It should not take you more then a couple of hours to get it in as you like it. Congrats...that was one of my favorite cars. DD
just call the Dept of Motor Vehicles and they'll help you out....you should find them in the bluepages under state govt.
Thanks . . . drove it back from Bartlesville, Oklahoma today. It's in better shape than I expected, even . . . interior is flawless . . . only problem is that it has NO sound system at all. The radio tunes well, but the speakers are AWFUL, and there is no tape or 8 track player . . . nothing big -- I was gonna re-do the sound system anyhow.
Stick shifts and safety belts Bucket seats have all got to go When we're driving in the car It makes my baby seem so far I need you here with me Not way over in a bucket seat I need you to be here with me Not way over in a bucket seat When we're driving in my malibu It's easy to get right next to you I Say, "baby, scoot over please" And then she's right there next to me Sorry...had to pimp my favorite band, CAKE!
My first car was a used Olds Cutlass...got it in 1978. I think it was a '72 or something. Great car until my dads-friends-daughter borrowed it and flipped it. b****. I was able to salvage the 8-Track player!! os
i drive a 2002 passat but im waiting on my dad to give me his 69 camaro... here's a story...when i was around 6ish he used to drive a standard 68 but it was brown and ugly and it wasnt performanced enhanced or anything, my dad just likes hot rods. my mom drives it to work one day and it catches on fire and burns to a crisp (insert woman driver jokes here). he hauls it back to our house, the neighborhood guys come out of the woodwork, they takes the engine out, buys a 69 camaro that was auto, turns it into a standard with the old engine, adds some corvette cams and other stuff i know nothing about. the body of the 69 is in real good shape and so is the interior. its white with black racing stripes and ha a fin. i cant wait to get my hands on that car, pull it into the garage and sit around getting drunk with the neighborhood guys while working on it. soon...very soon...
