I heard on BET sports last night that the NCAA is considering going to the trapezoidal lane configuration and, secondly, moving the 3-point line out by 9 inches.

Should be decided by next month. Anyone else heard about this?

Yeah, they were considering doing it at the beginning of the year, or at least they've deliberated over the subject.

I think it's a great idea; kinda makes the NBA the odd league out as the only one with a square free throw lane.

I never really understood what that did. Did it make it fairer for the others farther away in the lane?

And the 3 point line needed to be moved back. It's waaaay too close, and you see all the college kids shooting from 3 feet behind it anyway. Should help with NBA prep more I guess.

I think they should keep the 3pt line, it allows for more crazy stuff to happen.

I think the new lane is supposed to open the basket area for more driving or flashing to the hoop.

I agree that the college 3-point line is way too close.

They said that they were expecting a ruling next month.

It's funny though, I had not heard about this until just the other day.

--Not as long as college is a flop fest

--But that's a good thing IMO, anyone on the court can hit 3s and crazy comebacks are more possible.

That's EXACTLY what's great about college hoops, but you would think there would be more threes (than the NBA) or at least a higher percentage (which it probably is). With it so close, most players/teams have got to take advantage of it more. Plus, scores shouldn't be like 66-55 (forget about the 40-minute game and 35-second shot clock for once). They should be much higher with the close proximity of the perimeter.

Remember when the NBA moved the 3-point line closer? Alonzo was shooting the lights out on those shots. It was absurd.

I honestly believe that with the one-in-one situation and possession crap, rules need to be changed. For instance, why are there 2 shots for a technical foul in college and one in the NBA. I think there should be 2 (it IS a foul. But what I think would be more fair is scoring should be street style. Meaning, inside the perimeter are 1 point, outside 2, only one shot on free throws.

Ayone know who came up with the 2 and 3 point ideas?!?!

Yeah that's a good point about the technical. This would be really weird, and I'm not saying to do this, but wouldn't it be crazy if they changed games to whoever scores 80 or 100 first? I think it'd make games more exciting at least.
