A new music thread for appreciation of new bands. Post any new artists from any genre.

First up is the band, The Good The Bad The Queen. This is the Gorillaz frontman, Damon Albarn's new side project. Also in the band is The Clash bassist Paul Simonon, the Verve guitarist Simon Tong, and Afrobeat pioneer drummer Tony Allen.

The whole album which is released tommorrow in the US, is streamed for free on their Myspace page:

Great call on this, man. I have downloaded their single "Herculean" and I am thrilled with it.

In the same old-new, Brit-pop vein, Jarvis Cocker has a solo album that is just awesome.

Any rules or guidelines for the thread? Such as, what is considered "new"?
(I'm still catching up to the 90's)

I generally wanted to keep this thread relevant to new bands and new albums from these acts. New albums from existing bands are also ok.

This way we can all get more exposure to the cutting edge sounds out today.

Nothing wrong with listening to older music ( I still listen to The Smiths everyday), but I like to be exposed and learn about new music.

Man I have no idea on music these days either.

Jim Heath "The Reverend Horton Heat" has a kind of new project called Reverend Organ Drum. There is no album yet but you can listen off their Myspace and you can download mp3s from here: http://www.reverendorgandrum.com/audio.html

What Made Milwaukee Famous is a Austin band I saw at ACL this year and have been listening to ever since.

As Tall As Lions is another band I started listening to a few months ago and their self-titled album has been in constant rotation.

I wasn't gonna put in any new music from older bands, now way. Was joking saying how I'm not with the times musically

Just wondering if new meant a band's first album released in the past few months or could new mean an underground band's 2nd/third album that's now catching on with the public. Not meaning to get so technical though, cuz I'm seeing the examples what constitute new in here anyways.
    Thanks.

    *edit*
Alright here's mine. I'm too hooked on this song for whatever reason

    (Whitest Boy Alive - Burning)

Ah yes, Whitest Boy Alive is good stuff. This is Erland Oye of Kings of Convenience fame side project. I really like the mellow beats. Its like ambient music but with words.

Good looking out. This song rocks. I'll check out their stuff, if it's close to this I've got a cd purchase to make. But who put that hidden video camera in my bedroom to make this video?

Video for the song "Sweep the Leg" by No More Kings

fans of Karate Kid will recognize many actors from the movie making cameos, namely Martin Kove (Cobra Kai Sensei), William Zabka and Ralph Macchio

Hmm. The video was kind of cool. The song was pretty weak.

I read a few years ago that Zabka is gay. I wonder if that is true.

Really??? I've never seen them live. I have the live DVD and I could see how they could be disappointing. that kinda bums me out.

I love when I have people in the car and they're like "this is awesome, who is this?"

Towers of London - blood sweat and towers

was released in the summer in the US (earlier in the UK)

the snottiness of the pistols meets wannabe g n' r.

Its good for what it is, nothing ground breaking, but fun sleaze glam/punk
