    this first one is golden compass. i think its by the same producers of lord of the rings.

    Kinda looks like another PG rated "for the whole family!" movie, unless they do some Pan's Labyrinth action, I'll pass on that

    I'd normally agree, but having seen Pan's Labryinth recently, I don't know what the big to do was about that movie. There's a lot of gory violence, and a fantasy world....ok, and...?

    Fortunately, or unfortunately, I've listened to The Golden Compass on book on tape/ipod on a log car trip. It is a decent listen, if you like that genre, though I don't think the movie will be anythign amazing.
