Has anybody ever gotten a new job that they know will be better than their current one, and ended up really slacking off the last couple of weeks before the new job started?

Man, this is happening to me right now. After tomorrow, I have one week left at this job before I start my new one on June 9th, and I'm just counting down the days. Based on my post count, you can see that I slack off already, but I've been taking it to the extreme the last couple of weeks. Next week, I'll be in official, "I don't give a wart off a frog's ass" mode....

im in the same boat. i have exactley 28 work days left including this one. that doesnt take into account any days i might take of due to "illness". then i have a 2 1/2 month vacation then culinary school starts. i have been damn near worthless here at work. my last week of work will be training whoever my boss hires to replace me.

Every single time I changed jobs, my friend. Enjoy your downtime while you can. My favorite thing was to show up around 9AM, check my email, go out to lunch, and call from Little Woodrow's around 1:30PM after my third beer to tell them I had car trouble and wouldn't be back till the next day!

When I accept a job and they ask me "when can you start?", I always say "let me give 2 weeks to my boss, it's only right". Then I quit the next day and take a 2 week vacation before I start.

I have to admit that I slacked off at my last job as well after I decided that I was going to leave. I really wanted to do my best not to, but it was difficult to fight it.

Anyone else slack off at their current job even though they don't have anything else lined up in case they get canned?

    A-Train,

I am living proof that you don't have to slack off to have a high post count.

Working hard and posting alot can happen if you just believe in yourself (and ignore you wife's cries to pay more attention to her instead of your "imaginary friends on that stupid BBS").

    ;)

Today is my last day at my current job, I'll start my new job on Monday. I've done nothing but sat in my cubicle, surf the net, chat with co-workers. What are they gonna do, fire me?

What would really be cool, is if you knocked your cubicle over, gutted a fish on your desk and informed your boss to go away because you have a meeting with the Bobs in 5 mins.

Do it! You will become an instant BBS legend. :D

I'll be moving back to Houston for a new job in August. I have 8 vacation days and 1 sick day left to use here. I will use every second of them. And while I'm here, yeah, I've got a reall y harsh STD (Short-Timer's Disease, that is).
