That stupid lefthand pane SUCKS! Get that crap off my iGoogle! For anyone that uses iGoogle and wants to get rid of the lefthand pane, go to iGoogle settings and change the language to English (UK). It's only a temporary fix, but it will get you back to the good old iGoogle.
Thanks a ton. That was really starting to piss me off. I might have to learn another language if they modify this version too.
I just about crapped myself when it changed yesterday. I thought it was some setting that I messed up and I didn't know how to change it back. So I did a little research. A LOT of people are pissed off about this change. Thanks for the language change workaround. I'm going to use it right now.
I was (unfortunately) one of the beta testers for this piece of crap...and I can say that, after two months of having it on my computer, still have never used that left panel. I've adjusted to having it there and just ignore it. So don't complain...you will, in time, also be assimilated.
Damn, I thought I was the only one freaking out about my iGoogle page. Glad to know my feelings are shared with other angry members on the board.
There's a few style sheets on Userstyles.org for this. Here's one: iGoogle - Hide All The Crap Of course, you have to have Firefox, and it makes things easier if you have the Stylish extension installed. If you feel like that style takes away too much, you can delete some of the items it's hiding by double-clicking it in Stylish. For example, to get the header and search bar back, delete "#gsea," and "#gbar," (respectively).
Here - I posted a cropped up version of "iGoogle-Hide All The Crap" where it's pretty much identical to the old iGoogle now. New iGoogle - Hide The Sidebar, etc. So, in summary: Install this extension, then click this link and press "Load into Stylish", then "Save". Simple as that. Happy iGoogling.
I don't like that my widgets now require two clicks to open and close. Don't like the wasted vertical space that the left nav now occupies. Don't like how long the page takes to load (it's much fatter). I DON'T LIKE IT
Gotta love Firefox (I can't believe it took me so long to come around to it). Thanks for the suggestions, but I can't get either style to load (Tomcat error). There is one I got to load, but the tabs are jacked up. The best option I have seen so far is changing .com to co.uk, which doesn't change the temperature scale from F to C (like changing the language to English (UK) does) in my weather widget.
