Im sorry...I just joined Clutchfans.net forum and I am really upset with the threads and what people are saying. This is pretty much more like rocketbashing.net and not a "fan" site like it says.

Yao is a 2nd year player coming over from China where the game is completely different. His game is fine...it will take him more time to get use to American style, physical basketball. But...what other center in the league can consistently give you 15pts, 10 boards, and a couple blocks a game. Aside from Shaq who is close to being done...there are none. Has anyone ever thought that maybe we in Houston are spoiled from having an unbelievably talented big man in Dream? He was the exception...no big man will ever have skills like Dream again....quote me on that. Yao is fine and is already good. Give the kid some time. How about we build confidence and not tear it down?

We dont need to trade Francis or Mobley....we have a new system and things are coming along. Look we are 6-3 this season... not bad if you ask me. People say we've played bad teams...I disagree. Stevie is dishing nicely this season and Mobley is learning to play within JVG's system and things are gonna be clicking soon.

JJ is a huge surprise. Not saying we didnt know he could play but he has been great for us. He is a calming factor as well. He is a Vet and co-exists well with everyone. Another surprise has been Cato, Ive always liked him and felt he got a bad wrap...but even I am impressed with his inspired play this season.

It seems as if each night someone else comes up big and not just stevie or Mobley like the last few years. Remember the 94-95 and 95-96 teams...aside from Dream, we had any number of players from Smith to Maxwell to Elie or Horry coing up big on any given night.

I just wish everyone wasnt so trigger happy with wanting to trade people and bad mouth people. Be fans of the Rockets and dont panic so much cause we loose a game. I know everyone can say what they want and all but some things just seem uncalled for....like trading anyone. We dont need to trade anyone...why fix something that doesnt need to be fixed? We are a winning team right now atop the midwest...I know it is early but, those other teams that are usually ahead of us right now... arent. So there, that says enough.

Thanks to whoever administrates this site but please people...show some love to our Midwest leading Houston Rockets and the great core of players we have and as of right now...any team in the NBA would like to get their hands on any one of them.

I agree with you. A ture fan will go to toyoto center to show support for the team instead of sticking around this forum and whinning all the time. That's sick.

Glad to hear that...cause alot of people are going to get turned off by it and not come around...I know my brother already said he didnt even look on here anymore cause of how much the boarders complain and always want to trade the team away. Im glad the owner is going to clean this board up...Id get rid of all the pesismistic people...I wonder how they cope with everyday life. Sounds like they would quit all the time and always change jobs...every day isnt a walk in the park in real life...it isnt oin the basketball court either.

I'm calling bullsh*t on this one. If somebody had "just joined", then he wouldn't know about the overall pessimistic nature of the board because you have to register in order to even view the board. Therefore, I highly doubt he/she would use the name "Optimist" having never read the board...

    Is that you, Jeff? :D

Optimist, I think a majority of us here feel similar to the way you feel. We're just not quite as vocal. And our threads aren't so controversial that they get massive responses like "trade Yao" type threads.

I'm not saying it's all rainbows and lollipops within the Rockets organization, and I do lash out when I see fit, but I think you'll discover that there's more to us Rockets fans than in-fighting.

Well, MacBeth must have written that towards the end of that post, because I don't think I've ever made it through one of his posts in one sitting...

Hmm yea us rockets fans do tend to "b****" a little but thats only becuase we love this team so much and we hate to see them lose i mean even if we had 40 wins and only 10 losses im sure people would get really ticked off and complain if we got an 11th lose, IMO. True threads like "Trade the intier team" are a little over the top but you have to look at the other stuff too... Keep that in mind Optimist when your reading all the threads. & welcome to the BBS :)

How long have you been following the Rockets? If you have been around for at least four years, I am having a hard time taking your post seriously. We have been through basketball hell here! We have seen every fundamental, high school basketball camp, basic, simple, "every little dribbler knows" rule broken thousands of times, over and over, game after game. Many of us are on the verge of some form of sport's fan PTSD! And you are telling us to don't worry, be happy! In all due respect, your post made me want to puke!!! :p Thank you for letting me share my true feelings and welcome to the board.

This is what Im talking about... negativity. Ive been a lifelong Rockets fan and season ticket holder...I am now. Yeah we have players that alot of teams would like to have. Have you watched other teams? Yeah they have a player or two...we have 4 right now that alot of teams would like to have in Yao, Francis, Mobley, and JJ and I would even say alot of teams would love the services of Cato. So yeah I have been around for a long time and a basketball fan for a long time. What I think we have in Houston in some spoiled fans. Give them two championships and we should win one every year, so they think. It doesnt work that way...you take the good times with the bad, It is what makes the good times fun and cherishable.

if we are playing high school basketball, that says something about the nba, since our record is 6-3, and the votes in nba.com says we should be the second team to get 10 wins.

O.K., Mr. Happy here goes...."spoiled fans" !!!! Oh, I think not! Many of us don't expect a championship every year or even every decade. But I don't think it is unreasonalble of a fan to expect of a PROFESSIONAL basketball team to execute basic techniques like passing, moving, positioning, defending, shot selection, shooting, etc. etc. etc. I am certain that JVG feels the same way, and that is why he is here. I am optimistic that he is making progress, but I am skeptical about some of the players he has to work with. Some we have not seen and others may be brought in.

However, can you really say that you have enjoyed watching the Rockets since Francis arrived? Many of us haven't and we desperately want change. Reconstruction of the past is no way to plan for the future. The Francis era has been very hard to watch, and I believe JVG is here to make significant improvements. We are seeing progress and I am encouraged overall. Your post was just over the top on the "wonderful" scale. It has been a basketball purist's nightmare, but if you want to be "Alice in Wonderland," go for it! You came in dishing it out; you better be able to take it.
