the record is supposedly 80 songs on a 3 disc set. My friends played in the band called Pure Rubbish and they recorded a record with Mike Clink who produced appetite and parts of use or illusion. This is what Mike Clink told my friends. 80 songs on a 3 disc set. I've heard a few tracks that were leaked, one which was leaked by Eddie trunk while dj'in a radio show in new york. Their not bad. One is titled "Madagascar". Honestly, people joke about it, and it's been hyped up so much that no one thinks it's gonna be coming out. But I belive it's coming out. The supposed release date is March 06. We shall see. btw, JAYZ, do you think anything doesn't ever suck?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060221...hkF;_ylu=X3oDMTBjMHVqMTQ4BHNlYwN5bnN1YmNhdA-- Leaked Guns N' Roses Tracks Give Fans Hope NEW YORK - Guns N' Roses fans went into frenzied overdrive when three studio-quality tracks from the mythical "Chinese Democracy" album were leaked onto the Internet. The leaks came just weeks after frontman Axl Rose ended his hermit-like lifestyle by venturing out to a Korn tour launch party in Los Angeles and to trendy nightclubs for some post-birthday bashes (his 44th) in Manhattan. Asked at the Korn bash about "Chinese Democracy," which has been in the making for a decade, Rose told Rolling Stone.com that "people will hear music this year." The tracks leaked Wednesday take a different direction from Rose's traditional raunchy Sunset Strip-style rock. "Better" has emo/industrial touches mixed with Rose's trademark vocals and hard rock backdrop. "There Was A Time" is a rough studio mix of a power ballad with similarities to GNR's classic "Estranged." "IRS" is closer to the sound of yesteryear, with powerful guitar solos and classic rock flavor. Rose's manager, Merck Mercuriadis, ordered the Internet sites to remove the links, but declined to comment on them. Fans also sent one of the leaked tracks to radio stations. Mercuriadis said cease-and-desist orders were sent to the stations, but some, such as WAAF in Boston, still had "IRS" in heavy rotation Monday night. News also surfaced Monday that several music festivals, such as the Rock in Rio-Lisboa and the NovaRock festival in Austria, had booked the band to play in May and June, respectively. Lisa Reed, wife of keyboard player Dizzy Reed, said on her husband's web site that "all signs point to (the album) getting closer and closer," and she pleaded with fans not to leak the rest of the album. "It's like shaking all your Christmas presents on the 23rd of December," she wrote, "and figuring out what they are."
Can you really call it Guns N Roses when there is only 1 original member? I mean, I'm sure it's a legal thing with Axl owning the name or whatever, but it just doesn't seem right that a band called Velvet Revolver has 4 times as many GNR members....as GNR.
It'd be nice if they had a new name, but I can deal with it. Axl could never separate himself from Guns. Anyhow, I think these new songs are killer. TWAT and Better, at least. I.R.S. is ok. They are booked for some upcoming festivals...looks like Chinese Democracy will finally come out this year. Of course I thought that in 2002 when they toured, but there are more signs now than there were then, so I’m hopeful. The new stuff we've heard live, and these recent leaks is all really good. Some people might be pleasantly surprised.
Yeah, I refuse to call this GNR. It's Axl's Band to me. And Axl's Band stood me up when they toured last, so I'm kind of pissed. Not that I had faith in this whole Buckethead mess to begin with. Oh well, I did get to see an awesome Velvet Revolver show. They're more GNR than the new GNR, if you ask me.
Sorry, but as someone who regularly played gigs along the Sunset Strip in the late 80s, when GnR actually was a band, I feel compelled to interject a little Chinese Democra-sanity here... In my ever-so-humble opinion..... People who care about this are the same people who enjoy watching train wrecks and skyscraper infernos. GNRs 15 minutes of fame ended with a thud over 15 years ago. I couldn't care less about this overhyped CD, and... The only reason I would want to see this monstrosity in a live concert would be to see (1) how big Axl's paunch is, (2) how much his tats have sagged and to (3) play count the track marks on Axl's arms. It certainly wouldn't be about the music. Yummylicious.....NOT. You know your career is over when the frigging Rolling Stones have done a thousand live shows since your last live show and put out 4 albums (including one really good one) since your last album, and they are twenty freaking years older than you!!!! Axl needs to give it up and stick to what he knows best....shooting black tar heroin and raping underage girls. That is all. Carry on.
I heard one of the tracks during the morning show on the Buzz last Friday and I thought it was ok, better than most of the crap on the radio, but definately not GnR. I think if Axl would call the band something else, the music might be better recieved.
You can't talke about Guns N' Roses without talking about Metallica, they're supposed to make a new record with Rick Rueben producing, hmmm...
I read that it was 26 songs, with Axl saying it sounded more like Queen than vintage GnR. Ya know for a band with only one good CD with two great songs on it, GnR sure get a lot of love. [Edit: FYI the leaked GnR tunes are now up in Usenet.]
although he's an *******, Axl is Guns n Roses...much like Bruce Dickinson is Iron Maiden. Really, did anyone expect that Blaze Bayley era to last?
so you don't think Paradise City, Civil War, Estranged, Used to Love Her, Coma, November Rain, You Could Be Mine, and Patience are great?
I was really pumped to hear these songs. I have to say i'm disappointed. On the bright side, there are rumors that GNR with Axl, Slash, Duff, and Matt will be playing the Download festival in England this summer. If that goes well, maybe those guys will rejoin the band for good. Of course it's probably just a crazy dream. I've heard for years that Slash and Axl can't stand each other.
I'm not a diehard GNR fan by any means, but Estranged has to be one of the best songs ever recorded...in my opinion of course.
