Why do such a thing? 1) Because they showed a lot of class today by playing the Texans hard and legit. They could have easily mailed it in like the Bengals and others but instead Billicheck told his players to play hard and don't just hand the Texans the game. We had to earn our victory the hard way. 2) Patriots may have lost their biggest playmaker Wes Welker to an injury in a game where they could have easily folded and put everyone in a safety deposit box. But knowing all too well the complex nature of a single elimination system, Billicheck chose to roll the dice and take whatever criticism he got afterwards. He knew it was the right thing to do, considering the possibilty of having to face the Texans again in the playoffs. The Patriots just took this game as another playoffs and played like it till the end. I think as a infant franchise, we the Texans should learn from the example set by their dynasty. Next season, we need to play every game for 60 minutes like it's a playoff. That is the difference between controlling your own destiny or leaving it at the hands of others. For the rest of the playoffs, I'm taking New England to win it all because they deserve to be champion and we need use them as our role model. Go Texans!
i like the Patriots guts. I'll be rooting for them to win it all. I don't blame the Colts for laying down, but I wanted to see history and would have rooted for a perfect season. even their fans are still upset about it. I hope Brady sticks it up Manning's ass. It wasn't Manning's decision but at this point anything that sends the Colts packing, i'm all for it.
I can't see the Patriots doing much without Tom Brady. One good hit and he is out. The guy's got three broken ribs and a broken ring finger on his trowing hand. With that said, ballsy game, Brady. As much as I dislike you, you've got balls. As much as I want to "appreciate" the Patriots, I can't respect Bill Bellichick (sp?). The guy coaches recklessly. I guess it pays off more often than not, but this year, it doesn't seem as if it will.
It seemed to me like they were driving, with their backup quarterback, even. It seemed like at one point they were to the ten yard-line, but had it called back...laid down? I don't think you can say they laid down because Brady was out. I think there's a reason Brady was out. I think he threw the bad pass (the Pollard INT) because he was trying to avoid being hit by Mario, due to his injuries. He took a good hit from Mario, and holding him out from that last drive was probably about the only cautious move you'll ever see their Moron coach pull....
Still, more respectable and better then the Colts laying down in that last game and half. I do respect the Patriots for living up to their word and not letting us just walk over their backup for most of the game. They tried to put us away and we came back on them, it was a great game.
Yeah, the Patriots were in it to win it and almost did so, but the Texans were the better team today. What a great 4th quarter!~
I'll admire their defense, but watching Brady moan closeup about being pushed and trying to talk down Barwin won't be easily forgotten. Not after the QB hits Schaub and Carr have taken.
I'll never understand the hate for Tom Brady. All the dude is about is winning. He puts his team in a position to win so much so that its common. Wins when it matters most. Gives up salary to help his team get better. Doesn't run his mouth. Plays through some serious injuries. And lastly, isn't in every damn commercial I watch on Sundays! Lets see, would I rather be considered the best ever at my position, have the best record for a decade and one Superbowl or be in the conversation as the best ever and four Superbowl visits, winning three? Oh and part of an 18-0 team that made for one of the greatest Superbowls ever, even if it didn't go in their favor. Dude is a gamer and I'm fine being in the minority of being a fan of his. I really hope there is some ultimate justice and they are the ones who kick out the colts. That would be fitting. I also am glad they played their guys most of the game. I give Belichick a lot of credit for sticking to what he said even after the Welker injury. I won't downplay the Spygate incident, but as far as everything else I like what their organization stands for. The only thing I am grateful for today is that we won a good game and it wasn't cheap. Thats the way we should've gotten our first winning record!
I can agree with the principle of this thread. I can't stand Marvin Lewis laying down like that to avoid Houston, seeing as how the Texans beat the Bungles in October, and were hot for 4 straight games leading into the playoffs. Let's face it, the Texans were too hot for the Bungles to face them. The 2nd offense would have done the same thing in Cincy again, if not more. The Bungles are doomed to get bit in the rump for that shenanigan anyway... and I hope they do. The injury situation did not improve for them tonight. That happens more when your players are goin' 3/4 speed in a live game.
