I think there is a mistake in the translation. I believe Yao meant at least he would stay for another year due to the rookie contract, thereby minimum four years in Houston. Edit: I just checked the original Chinese version. What I said above is correct: Yao is only referring to the rookie contract.

Yeah, what is monopoly? The goal of any ambitious company is to monopolize the market, MicroTheft, Intel, on and on. The ultimate goal of competition is to kill the competitors .
