I bought an 08 Civic (about a month and a half ago) and have had to take it in for an electrical problem involving the back lights and the blinker lights not turning on. A couple of days ago I took it in because the back lights wouldn't come on. It took them a whole day to "fix" that problem. Fiancee picked it up at the dealership and didn't notice that the right blinker was flashing inside the car, but wasn't blinking on the outside. It was also clicking really fast on the inside, maybe 2 or 3 times as fast as the left one. Another problem/concern is that the radio volume turns down on its own sometimes. Taking it in today. I'm really worried about the electrical problems happening so early in the car's lifespan. Am I worrying too much? Or am I right to assume that future more detrimental problems are imminent? The guy's at the dealership could care less. One sales guy even tried to mack on my lady while she was waiting for the car. I've been reading up on the Texas Lemon Law and it says that 3 trips for repair for the same thing is grounds for a refund, another car, serious repair. Also if you have taken the vehicle for repair of a serious safety hazard: once during the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, and once more during the 12 months or 12,000 miles following the first repair attempt, and the problem is still not repaired you pass the serious-safety-hazard test. Does backlights not working and blinker lights not flashing constitute a serious safety hazard? *sidenote* They told me that they don't have any rental cars today and that the shuttle isn't running either Does anyone have a sound knowledge of the Texas Lemon Law?
If your blinker is blinking fast on the inside, but not on the outside, thats just a bulb. I wouldn't classify that as a serious electrical problem, although it could be considered a safety issue. On your radio problem, most modern radios have a function that causes the volume to increase and/or decrease automatically depending on how fast you are going. This is done to keep the radio at an ambient volume to combat road noise. Read your owner's manual and it will tell you how to disable that if it bothers you.
