Alright, after some discussion in the chatroom, I've decided to start a new basketball league that will incorporate a webpage with ratings, stats, etc... http://users2.ev1.net/~chkemp/bball/ That's what the page will look like, that's not what the rosters will look like though. I'm going with the default rosters on the game, once I find some server space, I'll upload the info. First I want to know who all would be interested in joining this league, and also I'd like to know how you'd like to deal with team allocations... I could either start another thread and have everyone call for a team, first come first serve, or we could all just stick with the same teams we have in Cat's sim with default rosters, so Moe would have Malone and Stockton on the Jazz again, or we could just call new teams. It's up to you guys...
I will do it, but can we still do Cat's league? I love that league... If we switch, I got the Rockets
This site is so awesome... honestly, I think we'd all be better off for going to it. Everything you could use as far as stats, etc. is right there. If you guys want me to continue the NBA Live sim, I'm fine with doing it, but I think trade talk from this league would overshadow it to the point where there would be little interest. Regardless, I will finish this season in the NBA Live sim, but I'm not sure how important the future is since we're looking at this sim. Let me know what you guys think. Are you sure we can't do like Castor did on the website, and start with rosters from this season in basketball? It would suck to make all the trades meaningless. duke, Since I was the original creator of CC.net sim leagues, I call the Rockets. BTW, if I don't need to do the NBA Live League, I am willing to do the NCAA football. (haven't heard from Drew in a while)
Well I was kind of liking the idea of having a new start in a basketball league with new teams and a different set of players. I don't think I have the patience SF3 did when he made those rosters the way they were. Also, you can ask anyone in the chat, I was reserving the Rockets for you anyway... I've been simming seasons quite a bit for the last 12 hours and this sim is so awesome, words can't even begin to describe it. Anyway, I plan on starting a thread that will give a time for everyone to post what teams they want, kind of like how we did free agency that one season where everyone tried posting their bids at the same time. Only 2 teams are untouchable, the Rockets (Property of Cat), and the...Clippers... sorry SF3 and SCF... Anyway, with the votes being 8-1, I'm going to go ahead with setting up the league and explaining how things will be ran...for example, the first thing we'll do is hold free agency where okay players such as Arvydas Sabonis, Kenny Satterfield, and Damon Jones are available.
Aww, thanks BGM. I've been playing around with the site for the last half hour or so, and it is absolutely incredible. Probably better than OOTP for baseball. Seriously though, I need some responses on the future of the NBA Live sim. I'll definitely sim this season, but the future is up in the air. I am willing to do the NCAA football sim, if I don't do the NBA Live...
I like the idea of starting over also, with a whole new different type of sim and different teams. Cat, like you said, I think interest in the NBA Live sim would die off once we became involved in this one. It probably wouldn't be worth the effort anymore.
I love the idea of an OOTP-style hoops sim. I think we'd have to start with default NBA rosters, for 2 reasons. One, because otherwise we'd have to create all the rookies, etc. who exist in Cat's league. Two, we'd have to do something with the players who retired in Cat's sim (like Reggie Miller). I wouldn't mind taking a different team than the Pacers, either. But whatever the group decides is cool.
Thats ok Cat, I was just seeing if i could have them... this sucks though. I worked hard and assembled what I think is a great team in the NBA LIVE sim, and now we're quiting? I would love to have both...
