some old school stuff from portishead (man... it doesn't seem like 11 years since their last album was out). <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gL30x5cIlMs&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gL30x5cIlMs&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object> new portishead track on their myspace page anyhow, the track on the page is definitely missing some of the scratching that was prevalent in the self-titled album and seems to go for more of an industrial feel instead. reznor-ish/rza-ish beat... kinda cool. album coming out in late april. ok... i'll get the "nobody listens to techno" line out before someone else does. the new moby album seems to be kinda solid on the link below. moby preview on his myspace loved this one from the last album... <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4X2KYOr-73s&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4X2KYOr-73s&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
just remember most people on here are from texas. not to sound quaint but its a big world out there...
I don't really consider Moby to be techno. He is more like chill electronic music. Techno usually has harder beats.
I am an unabashed fan of portishead. It has been far too long between albums. I can't wait for it, and I don't care if it still sounds like their mid-90s trip hop... I still listen to their old stuff often. I just wish they'd tour the U.S. ... somewhere close to Texas. I'm not going to Coachella.
When I think techno I think "danceable". Portishead is NOT that at all, or Moby really. I remember listening to Portishead's entire first album in Sam Goody on the in-store headphones and liked what I heard. Listened to that and a Type O Negative album for some reason
Portishead is trip-hop, nothing even remotely close to techno. I'm STOKED for their new album. Moby is considered- bleh. I've downloaded it but have yet to listen. The reviews I've seen don't look to favorable though.
