I just saw Netscape 7.0 is out and I was about to download it. Anyone else using it? Does anyone use Netscape anymore?

According to this article they only have a 3.4% market share and Microsoft's market share has risen from 87% a year ago to 96% now. I don't see how Netscape can stay around much longer with these odds.

It's based on <a href="http://www.mozilla.org">Mozilla</a>, which just rules! I downloaded Netscape 7 PR1, and it was fabulous -- worked great! Give it a whirl and you'll not want to go back . . .

My Netscape at work just works terrible, downloads pages slow, some things won't even show up on a page, etc...
My personal webpage doesn't even show up in Netscape at all...whats the point to Netscape?!

I used to use Netscape exclusively and hated IE, until I finally got annoyed with Netscape always hanging up, or stalling, or whatever the technical term for it is. This usually happened (and still happens) when Netscape was interrupted (Stop, Reload, Back, etc.) when there were Javascripts (I think) running and/or loading on the page, after which Netscape was totally locked up and useless. The only way I knew of to get it back up and running again was to logout and log back in (Windows NT 4.0).

Shortly thereafter I tried IE and found that it doesn't have nearly as many problems. IE just seems more stable (better programming?? ), so I kissed Netscape goodbye.

Anyone else go through the same thing with Netscape? I tried searching the web to find out why it does that but I suck at surfing so I found nothing...

I like Netscaoe, but since it isn't/can't figure out how to be intergrated into Windows, I don't use it. It's really a thing of beauty

Netscape actually runs better for me on Linux compared to IE, so there's definitely a place for it on the market IMO.

Try the new Netscape -- it is NOTHING like the old one. I think the skin they're bundling with it is the "classic" skin (so it looks kindof like the old NS, but it isn't), but underneath the skin you'll find the most stable, standards-compliant, fastest, most extensible browser there is.

Actually, I'm using it right now and it seems a little more faster than IE. I like it alot.

I suppose I'll give it a whirl, but I have a hunch that I won't like it all that much. Netscape 6.0 was okay (pretty cool skin), but other than that Netscape browsers are $#!@. I much prefer IE and Mozilla.

NS6 sucked because it was based on Mozilla 0.6 which was still pretty unusable.

Since 0.93, I've only had like 3 crashes of Mozilla.

I nabbed Netscape 7 today...to make up for IE's integration with all of the Windows components, it comes with basically any and every program (AIM, RealPlayer, Flash, and so on) that can mimic a function already present in Windows.

Personally, I don't want all of that material on my computer and would rather be given the opportunity to not download it - but that's only true for some of the material. Browsing does seem faster and pages look nearly the same as in IE, though I think the overall interface is just a tad cluttered.

I won't use it for general browsing, unless IE is giving me trouble, but it's nice to have to test things out in, such as web page designs and the like.

Yeah, that's what I did. My dad always used Netscape, so I did too. Then one day I gave IE a try, and I haven't switched back. My mom and dad still use Netscape, but I don't. One time, my dad was backing up everyting important on my computer, and he said he got my bookmarks, which I understood as favorites. But I ended up having to make new favorites.

I like Netscape 7.0 so far... But I dislike how it makes the "Your Reply" text box look shrunk. So far it's cool, death to Microsuck

I'm typing this on Netscape 7.0 I just downloaded. I am pretty much an IE user because the Netscape interface for Mac has been buggy since 4.7 and 4.7 just doesn't accept a lot of code (certain .css styles for example) so it isn't a lot of fun.

But, I have to admit, 7.0 seems pretty cool so far. That tab thing they have is SO much easier to use than opening a new window which I do with frightening frequency. And the news sidebar is a pretty cool quick reference.

This might get me back to Navigator for a while. Besides, there are some Navigator 6.0 things that worked better than IE for Mac - Java applets run quicker on Navigator (what a shock considering its origins) and some javascripts and DHTML seem to function better on the newer versions of Netscape.

    Cool. :)

man, my Internet Explorer is screwed up irreparably at this time, so I had to download netscape 7.0 to use the internet. I like the format and the easy access to aim, but I can't use some features on my mouse that I could with IE. You know how some mice (plural) have that little back click button and the scroll thing in between the right and left buttons? Well, the back-click thing doesn't work and the scroll thing won't do the cool thing where you push it down and it zooms up and down the page as you move your mouse. Why the hell is that? Does anybody know how to fix that?

You can go change that in the Preferences I believe, but try middle clicking on a link . . .

    like:

<a href="http://www.rockets.com">Middle Click on this and see what happens</a>

So far I have to say 7.0 is so-so. Nothing I really like/dislike. I will use it a little while longer and probably go back to IE. Nice try Netscape... :(
