Anyone think he would be a good pickup for the Rockets?

That would leave Cato as trade bait and could package him with Mobley or someone for a backup pg/sg/sf, etc. That'd be an awesome frontline- yao, dikembe, jim jackson.

It's funny because on Nets home page...Dikembe and Alonzo are in a picture together all happy...

But anyways. I think Dikembe would be great for the Rockets. He, Patrick, Yao, Cato, Griffin, Amaechi, Taylor, Jackson, and company can all hang out! Big men galore! He would only play like 13 minutes a game for us...and I only want him for the minimum. If we got him, that would be great! Who knows...maybe JVG wants him. Then we can move Cato...and maybe Taylor as well!

I wish people would stop with the "package Mobley for this", especially a back-up player. Lets give Van Gundy a few months, because if he gets Mobley and Francis on the same page this team will be so dangerous it wouldn't even be funny. Packaging a 20 ppg scorer for a back-up would be crazy. As for Dikembe, Byron Scott should be fired immediately. He is basically not playing Mutombo and trying to dump him because Mutombo wanted to play more minutes. The guy is still a great defensive player, why would you want to dump him!? Especially when Zo is still questionable, and even if he isn't you have a center spot as good and as deep as any in the league! I definitely would love for the Rocks to get Mutombo!

Actually..I like the idea of signing Dikembe! If Mo Taylor is going to be out for a while...I think Mutombo could play at power forward. ?

Can Mutombo play power forward along with Yao?

Of course..Amaechi or Cato could play at power forward instead.

i would sign him for the min for 1 yr. just to get him out o the fa pool.

think of the damage he could do if he signs with one of our rivals:

    blazers
    mavs
    sonics
    suns
    wariors
    wolves

although actually signing him is far fetched he has to go somewhere and i would hate for him to end up in any of those places.

it would be a lot beter for us if he would stay in the east . maybe with one of these teams:

    pacers
    6ers
    celtics
    magic
    knicks
    heat
    raps

He's destined for either Knicks or Philly.

Mt Mutombo would be great behind Yao, but he isnt worth 1/4 of what he would have to be paid.

Let someone else gamble on him.

Hmmm, I'm thinking NY. Philly already gambled with him.

But personally, I see him with Atlanta again.

Leaving Ratliff and Nazr open for more trade speculation in packages with SAR.

I don't think Rox need him, but he'd be a nice luxury to have. A luxury which, btw, we can't afford. Let Mt. Mutombo slowly crumble somewhere else, not in Houston.

With Mutombo out there and available and DALLAS' desperate need for ANYTHING at the center position I would HAVE to believe that Mutombo would be a good fit there. True Mutombo would probably not get tons of minutes during the regular season but in the playoffs where Dallas would need a big body to defend against Shaq, Duncan and YAO he could do some damage.

I am surprised Dallas is not all over him by now. Dallas got burned in not getting Zo and Kandi over the off season and now someone like Mutombo (even at this stage of his career) is available? They should grab him post haste!

Getting Mutombo will complete our transformation from one of the youngest team into one of the oldest.

Too old, too set in his ways, too arrigant. Would not fit our Roster and would not fit into JVG's way of doing things. An Old Boys Club is not what the Rockets need.

Mutombo is the slowest player in the NBA. For that reason, I don't see Deke playing PF, or with the Mavs.

Then again, it might be interesting to see what he and Pat can teach Yao about proper gentlemen's club etiquette...

    "Who wants to sex Yao?!"

Exactamundo! He was probably good for a New York (pun!) minute, but these days he is Mark Eaton.
