When has Cam Johnson ever been a guard? Or did you mean Jabari?

People are underestimating Jalen’s trade value. I don’t think Cam Johnson is worth the 10th pick and filler I think you could probably trade #10 and filler for Cam and one of their later picks. He is not a very good player.

Serge Ibaka got traded for pick 11.

That's probably a reasonable comp for Cam Johnson?

Not my cup of tea. Pick 10 for 19 26 and 27 seems more reasonable. But not sure I'd want 3 more rookies unless we had a prior deal that sent 2-3 of our young guys out for a genuine star.

I’m down, but someone has to get dealt for Cam to start at 3.

Brooks and something for Myles Turner (I know he’s a free agent )

Whitmore will post more hotel elevator selfies when he finds out another Cam will be the starter next year and not him.

Probably pass on Cam Johnson for the #10. Rockets need a shooting guard not another wing.

Cam Johnson is not much of an upgrade over what we have at the 3/4 right now. A couple of years ago when we were a basement team, sure, but not anymore. He’s not worth giving up significant assets for. I’m all for bringing in another core piece, but we should be able to do better than Cam Johnson.

Cam Johnson is 10x the player Dillon Brooks is.

For as much flack as Jalen gets this postseason, it made people forget that Brooks is arguably one of the worst playoff performers in NBA history. He ***** the bed every playoffs.

I am continually surprised at how people on this board overvalue starter-ish level players on non-competitive teams who have good PR. The Cam Johnsons, Coby Whites, Nic Claxtons etc.

We already have something like 8 starter-level players. Cam Johnson can shoot yes. But he's a weak defender, plays 55 games per year, has blah impact metrics, and was an easy target every defensive possession in the playoffs the last time he appeared.

I doubt the FO/Ime would swap Dillon Brooks for Cam Johnson straight up, nor do I think Cam Johnson would start for us in a playoff game over our other options.

But people on here watch Dillon or Tari or Jabari all the time and see their flaws, and want to compare them to the idea of Cam Johnson they have in their head. There's a reason the Nets have been desperate to trade him for real FRP equity for more than a year and have not been able to.

Wish you are right about Jalen. Have serious doubts however. Jalen is overpaid as he is more suited as a sixth man. Most of his value is tied with his 'untapped potential.' After four years of making little progress on offense and nearly zero with efficiency, how much weight does potential count for after 4 seasons and at 33 million a year?

They won't want to take back a bad contract

Nets haven't been desperately trying to trade him for FRP equity. Their issue is that they've been seeking two first round picks for him. Cam Johnson played a big part on a Finals team so he's not some player that can just put up stats on a bad team. If Ime wouldn't swap Dillon Brooks for Cam Johnson then there's a bigger issue at hand. Dillon Brooks literally got told he wasn't welcomed by the Grizzlies because of how poor of a playoff performer he is. He had more fouls against the warriors than rebounds

Cam Johnson was a bench player who played 22 mpg and averaged 10 ppg in the playoffs for those Phoenix teams. He was never a playoff starter for them. He wasn't some young prospect either, this was at age 26.

He could not hold up defensively and was constantly targeted by Luka when they got embarrassed in 2022, which is why Cam's minutes were cut down in that series and then Phoenix put him on the trade block.

This is my point. Cam Johnson is pretty much just a guy. Dillon Brooks is pretty much just a guy. Nobody is giving up a lottery pick to switch from one to the other; certainly not a team in our situation, with our identity, and our glut of quality wings.

Cam Johnson shot 39% from 3, making $20M next season and under contract through 26-27 season. It's a move we should consider if make other moves...don't think the Rockets will move from Dillon Brooks unless we trade for KD or Giannis

They didn’t put him on the trade block. Kevin Durant became available and then he got traded.

    Do it. Do it

He is already proven where Kasparas Jakucionis, Rasheer Fleming. Carter Bryant are not.

Cam Johnson is really good. .4+ from 3 the last couple of seasons, .63 TS% last season, 19 ppg, great FT shooter. Covers a lot of our weakness. Him, Amen, and Sengun makes a ton of sense together, and you’d still have enough ammo for another big trade if you wanted.
