I just don't see this happening but it's being reported that it's getting to be a closer deal. http://www.nj.com/nets/index.ssf/2009/02/nj_nets_roger_san_antonio.html
I hope San Antonio does that, they are good enough to win without him and that would seriously hurt their team. DD
If San Antonio gets Vince for essentially Mason/Hill consider yourself warned. If they don't win the title this year i'll be shocked.
I fail to see how VC helps the Spurs the same way as VC would not help the Rockets if we got him. Especially the pieces the the Spurs are reportedly offering, that is too much depth.
It won't. Parker & Duncan are the only guaranteed contracts in 2010. Add Carter and theit tea salary is around $49M. Plenty of room to add a 33 year old Ginobli.
Man please....if the Spurs can get Carter without giving up Manu or Parker then that's a deadly move. 4th Qtr and they can run TP, Manu, Carter, Duncan and who the hell ever on the floor....wow..... How much easier will it be for Carter to score in that offense!!!
Yup, exactly. People seem to have this misconception that Vince is a poor shooter too. He can already hit 45% of his shots from the field and 40% from downtown. He's done that his entire career as a #1 option. Imagine the looks he would get on a unit like that with two of the best penetrators in game and not to mention some guy named Tim Duncan. And no, he wouldn't be just a glorified Michael Finley either. He gets to the line a lot, he's an absolute magician with the ball in his hands as both a playmaker/passer and is a better defensive player than he gets credit for.
Damn. I don't like our chances in this conference if the Spurs get VC without giving up on of their Big Three. As if the Lakers were not already enough.
If the report is true, they get 2 of those pieces back in Bowen and Oberto after Nets buy them out. So they'd be dealing Roger Mason and George Hill for Carter. I'm sure the Spurs wouldnt mind sticking Jacque Vaughn behind Parker and essentially replacing Roger Mason with Vince Carter.
Amazing that they were able to develop two scrubs to a significant plus trade value level during Manu/TP's injuries and now cash them in for a superstar when their value appears a bit inflated. That's just another day at the office for the model organization in sports.
Wow so the spurs are actually trying to get Carter huh. Hmmm i guess having 4 maxed out large contracts doesn't bother them. Duncan, Parker, Ginobli, and now Carter if they get him. Nice
I am getting sick of these obviously-lopsided trades made at the behest of cheap owners or cap-space-crazy GMs. This is horrible for the league.
With Duncan, Parker, and Carter starting the 2010 season, they will be making like closer to $49million. There's no way they can give Manu let's just say $10million and be able to sign other people. With the way the economy is going, the cap is expected to shrink a little by then. I don't believe he'll take a pay cut when he can get a lot more then that. I don't see this deal going down.
