I know there was a thread a while back about Netflix (www.netflix.com) , but with the search feature currently disabled I could not find it...Anyway, Netflix has added more distribution centers. It used to be that most everything was delivered to and shipped from San Jose. Because of that it could be 4 days before they received your movies and another 3-4 days before you received movies (unless you lived in the San Jose area). I am in the Twin Cities area where there is now a distribution center and on Tuesday (05/28) I dropped 4 movies into a mailbox around noon. Before noon on Wednesday (05/29) I received email notification from Netflix that they had received the movies. By 6:00 PM Wednesday I received email notification that my next 4 movies had been shipped. By noon on Thursday (05/30), I had 4 movies in my mailbox. To me, that type of service is impressive. Pretty impressive for the post office as well.

Wow...cool. I've been with Netflix from the beginning. Last week....on a Tuesday.....I sent back 3 movies and they received them on Thursday. So, I'm thinking no way in hell will I get any movies from my queue back from them before the Tuesday(or day after Memorial Day). So, I get shipment notifications later on Thursday and the movies are in my mailbox on Saturday. I was blown away that I got the movies in such a short amount of time. I guess this is the reason as it used to take longer.

On another topic, they have all these options you can select in your shipping status like "damaged", "lost", "late", etc. . I was wondering...does "late"(which means has been in mail 6 days or longer) mean they will ship out your next title in your queue. They have changed this so much that now I have no idea. It used to be you could say I sent this back already and they would send your next one out even though they hadn't received it yet. But, people were abusing the hell out of that option and getting more DVDs while holding on to their existing allotment(I should know...I did it :)). I'm just wondering what "late" does for you if you click that for a title. They don't tell you on the site whether they will send you another one or not since the one you sent back is "stuck" in the mail. I don't want to click it and have a $20 charge on my credit card or something. Anyone use the "late" option? What's the deal? I'm pretty sure that it means they will go ahead and send you the next one thinking yours is just late and will arrive shortly. However, their site help doesn't explain it at all other than to say 6 days late or greater.

    Not a big deal...just curious.

I may have to start using them again, that was my only complaint - it was just too slow.

Anyone else in the Houston area use it ?

I live in the Dallas area and sent 2 movies back yesterday. We'll see how long it takes...

I rented 3 movies a couple of weeks ago and only 1 made it to me. The other 2 were lost in the mail. They only took about 1 day after my "claim" to ship out 2 more. That was pretty fast service. I thought I'd have to go through all kinds of crap to prove to them the movies were indeed lost.

Wow. I just checked my email and they've apparently gotten 1 one of the movies already and have shipped the next one on my rental queue. I shipped the 2 movies back yesterday at 1pm and they already have at least 1 by today? The email confirming they had gotten it was sent at 7am pacific time (9 central). I could've sworn the return address was a San Jose, Ca. address.

I received a second email stating the one sent in the queue won't be here until Tuesday, though. Bummer. Maybe that's coming from San Jose.
