Gonna give this thing a shot in January. I've never been a movie guy, but I am going to force myself to watch more movies next year. I am getting a blu ray player for Christmas (lg bd390) and it has wifi and netflix.
The mail system works great, as long as you don't mind waiting a couple days for your movies. the VOD is ok, a slight lower quality than DVD. The selection is less than fair. Don't expect anything near HD quality.
I was a memeber..left...and just joined when they brought the service to the PS3. By mail, it only takes a day or two to get movies in Houston as they have a distribution center here in town. The 'instant watch' stuff is OK. They don't have the lastest movies out, but they have a ton on interesting documentaries and TV series that you can catch up on. Its great for those 'hey, I always wanted to watch that, but never got around to it' movies and shows.
i've been on netflix since it's started wayyyy back in the day. it's got an incredible selection of everything. i'm on the cheapo plan, 1 bluray out and unlimited streaming.
I hope to be able to get blu-ray discs in the mail and stream HD movies. Please tell me the 2nd part is true.
don't think that plan exists anymore.. now limited to 1 out + 15 hrs of streaming (or approximately that) for the cheapo plan. Also, cheapo plan doesn't allow you to stream through your ps3, sadly..
I just signed up and I've got 1 movie out + unlimited streaming for 8.99. I think its like 2-3 bucks extra to add blu-ray. The movie selection is great for the mail-ins, but it would be nice if they got their streaming selection build up and in better quality. Other than that its pretty good..
I just signed up for the TWO-WEEK "1-dvd out at a time, unlimited" trial on Sunday and will get my first movie via the PS3 because my PS3 disc just arrived yesterday. I was surprised it came so soon *that's what she said!* I will let you know how it goes... I have yet to put a movie on the queue for "physical" delivery. Are you renting nothing but 50's or 60's movies?
Netflix was nice, switched to Blockbuster though as they gave me free movies in store when I turned my mailed ones in. They stopped that, so I quit paying and now download all movies via torrents in 1080P on 3 different private torrent sites. Free movies are the awesome.
Been a customer for a long ass time... i think since about 03 ish... I've had my share of problems with them through the years with mailing issues and such, but I can say... Netflix is awesome... from their mailing.... to their instant watch, they do a great job. Especially if you live in Houston, they arrive in a day or two at the most... I wouldn't switch to any other company and it beats the hell out of driving to Hollywood Video or Blockbuster to rent movies.
I just noticed you talking about this 1080p download, and I heard I can play these on my PS3, sir. Please step out of the HANGOUT for a moment so I can talk to you. May I have a word with you, dear sir? [flashing my SwoLy badge]
Just log into netflix, and add any movie that's instantly watchable into your instant queue. You can then watch any of those through your xbox.
