Is there any way we could possibly get thiss guy? I was reading some scouting reports, and in the reports before the draft, his game was compared to Olajuwon. I do not see how, considering he is a bit heavier than Hakeem, and doesn't seem to move quite well. But what would you guys think of a frontcourt of Yao and Nene? I don't see how this guy will progress coming off the bench in Denver behind Kenyon Martin. Any ideas?
Nene would be a great addition to the Rockets but no way is Denver going to trade him. Nene will probably get a lot of starters minutes at center with Camby so I dont think he will be disgruntled
there isn't anything we have that they would want that we are willing to give up. but whoever compared him to Olajuwon should be shot... period.
if you are foreign and black and around 6'10-7' and you are athletic then you automatically get compared to dream.
What does Nene do really well? Score from the post? Rebound? Hit jumpers? Block shots? I don't really understand the fascination. He's solid all-around, but we need a rebounder.
He reminds me more of Jamaal Magloire than anybody. About the same build and size. Solid jumper, decent rebounder and shotblocker, and works inside with authority. I think more than anybody he'd be the ideal PF for the Rockets especially at his salary. He's a more realistic pipedream than hoping to get someone like KG, Duncan, or Brand, but again Denver's not just going to hand him to us for a bunch of scrubs, and taking any of our bloated PFs would be a lesser trade for them. I honestly don't see any way of getting him.
Nene' is a poor rebounder and does not block shots. His offense appears limited but he does take high percentage shots. He still looks like a project after 2 seasons.
I would actually guess the Hakeem comparison has more to do with the fact they both grew up soccer players. As to the question at hand, I'd absolutely LOVE to have a power forward like Nene on this team. Do I see it as a possibility? Not really. I can't see anyway it could happen through trade and when/if Nene hits the free agent market he may get a bit more than the mid-level. I suppose it depends on how much playing time he gets in Denver and how productive he is in that time, but I really can't imagine him getting less money than Mehmet Okur just got.
maybe defensively he can somehwat compare to Dream. Not as quick as him, but I can definetely see the potential defensively. Offensively though, its like comparing the speed of his skateboard to Olajuwon's Corvette. Not even worth thinking about. Denver has a crowded front court, and Nene's contract is coming up next year I believe, the addition of KMart and resigning of Camby probably will prod Nene to seek more playing time elsewhere. Would be nice if the Rox could get him but presently our only commodities are at PF, something Denver has plenty of. Maybe if we can trade MoT or Juwan away for a expiring contract, we could go after Nene should the opportunity arise.
